French label Carlotta Films has revealed that it is planning to bring to Blu-ray two films by Italian director Elio Petri: his directorial debut The Assassin (1961), starring Marcello Mastroianni, Micheline Presle, Salvo Randone, and Cristina Gaioni, and Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion (1970), starring Gian Maria Volonté, Florinda Bolkan, and Gianni Santuccio.
The Assassin was recently restored in 2K and screened at the Classics section of the Cannes Film Festival. The restoration was performed by the L'Immagine Ritrovata laboratory in 2011.
Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion was restored in 4K by Colorworks in collaboration with Cineteca Di Bologna. Funding for the restoration was provided by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, The Film Foundation, and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
The two releases will be available for purchase in France on March 6th.
