Entertainment One/Cohen Media Group will bring to Blu-ray the recently restored Luis Bunuel masterpiece Tristana (1970), starring Catherine Deneuve (Belle de jour), Fernando Rey (That Obscure Object of Desire) and Franco Nero (Keoma, Querelle). The release will be available for purchase online and in stores across the United States on March 12th.
Exact technical specs, region coding status and supplemental features for this upcoming release are yet to be revealed.
Tristana stars French beauty Catherine Deneuve as an orphaned young woman who becomes the ward of a nobleman (Rey) who seduces her. She then leaves him for an artist (Nero), but returns to her aging benefactor and calculatingly hastens his demise. Filmed in Toledo, Spain, it was released in 1970 after protracted skirmishes with censors in Generalissimo Franco's government. Restored by Cohen Film Collection in conjunction with Filmoteca Espaņola, Madrid to its original glory not seen since its original release in 1970.
