Magnolia Pictures has acquired the North American distribution rights to Drew DeNicola and Olivia Mori's documentary Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me (2012). The film tells the story of 1970s rock band Big Star, which never achieved mainstream success but had a profound influence on such bands as R.E.M., The Replacements, and The Flaming Lips.
Magnolia Pictures will release Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me theatrically later this year.
The film had its U.S. premiere at the Indie Memphis Film Festival, where it won the Best Documentary Feature prize.
