Paramount Home Entertainment has officially announced the Blu-ray release of The Borgias: The Complete Second Season. The Showtime original series stars Jeremy Irons as Pope Alexander VI, head of the Borgia family and manipulator of Renaissance-era Italy's political landscape, and comes to Blu-ray on March 26, 2013.
In the show's second season, Pope Alexander solidifies his power and influence with the help of two loyal allies: Cesare Borgia (François Arnaud), who secures the family fortunes and defends both the papacy and Rome itself from its enemies, and Giulia Farnese (Lotte Verbeek) helps Alexander achieve the good works that will ensure his legacy.
Elsewhere in the family, Lucrezia (Holliday Grainger) strives to establish control over her own destiny, Juan (David Oakes) drives a permanent wedge between the Borgia siblings (a move that leads Cesare to commit the ultimate crime), and Della Rovere (Colm Feore) schemes to bring down the Pope by any means necessary.
The Complete Second Season will be spread across two BD-50 discs, feature Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround audio, and include a number of special features:
The World of Borgias Featurette
Interviews and Behind-the-Scenes Materials
Bonus Episodes via E-Bridge Access:
Dexter: Season 7
Californication: Season 5

Without a doubt one of the most ludicrous, ridiculous, absurd, stilted, false, contrived and dumbed down "historical" dramas ever produced, even worse than "The Tudors" if such a thing is possible. Poor Jeremy Irons, he must really need the work.
