Glad to see Argo got Best Picture and Director. I would've been happy with either Argo or Zero Dark Thirty getting the top recognition. Both are incredibly well made films and deserved of the accolades they receive.
I hate to be the first to whine about the winners, and trust me, i have issues with most of them, but here's a few I really cannot agree with...
Homeland over Breaking Bad?
Brave over Wreck it Ralph?
Kevin Costner over Benedict Cumberbatch?
Django for Best Screenplay and any wins for Lena Dunham pretty much nullify any of the "right" awards. This is why no one respects for cares about the Golden Globes.
Brave over Wreck It Ralph?
Lena Dunham over Amy Poehler and Tina Fey?
Girls over Parks and Rec? (which wasn't even nominated!)
Don Cheadle over Louis CK and Nick Offerman? (who wasn't even nominated!)
Kevin Costner over Benedict Cumberbatch?!
Lena Dunham is so overrated and she needs to stop getting naked on her show no one wants to see that. She should make her cast mates get naked not her.
"Lincoln " is an American movie about America and predictably not too big an interest for the Foreign press catering to foreign market. Argo won as a sympathy vote since Ben Affleck was NOT oscar nominated.
I have seen Argo and 7 other of the best pic nominees
Argo was good but I wouldn't even put that in my top 3.
Not being biased. Yet I won't buy the film but Lincoln was the best
Rondanto - Affleck or Argo could not have been sympathy votes as final ballots were handed in prior to Oscar noms being announced. They both won Critic choice awards on Friday as well.
Agree, Argo was my least favourite of the top 5 drama films. I really think Django or Life of Pi should have taken it.
And Bryan Cranston lost out again?
And Breaking Bad (the best thing ever to hit TV) lost out to the bloated Homeland series that I tried to like.
And The Big Bang lost to a bunch of Girls?
And all the other awards I really don't give a rats ass about.
Glad Tarantino won for screenplay!
Sorry, folks, but I believe ARGO's wins (pic and dir) were quite sincere votes for a superb film with a superb director at the helm. And I love "Lincoln" too.
Good to see that Lincoln won the only award it actually deserved, Best Actor. Well deserved win for Girls and Argo as well. Highlight of the night was easily QT taking Best Screenplay for Django, and Poehler's jab at James Cameron was classic.
I saw all the nominations for the best picture awards on both category.(man, I saw lot of movies this year )
I'm satisfied with Argo winning, didn't really like the suspense at the end, but story was just so interesting. Personally, I enjoyed Life of Pi little bit better with Les Miserables being the best.
Can NOT believe Brave won over Wreck-It Ralph. Brave had better animation, but Wreck-It Ralph was superior in every other way.
