Millennium Entertainment has released a new trailer for writer/director Ariel Vromen's The Iceman, starring Michael Shannon, Winona Ryder, Chris Evans and Ray Liotta. The story of notorious Mafia hitman Richard Kuklinski arrives in U.S. theaters on May 3, 2013.
Inspired by actual events, The Iceman follows contract killer Richard Kuklinski (Shannon) from his early days in the mob until his arrest for the murder of more than one-hundred men. Appearing to be living the American dream as a devoted husband and father, Kuklinski was, in reality, a ruthless killer-for-hire. When finally arrested in 1986, neither his wife nor daughters had any clue about his real profession. Co-starring Ryder (Black Swan) and Evans (Avengers, Captain America), the film is directed by Vromen (Danika) from a script he wrote with Morgan Land (Rx). Liotta (Goodfellas), David Schwimmer (Friends), Robert Davi (Profiler), Danny Abeckaser (Alpha Dog), Stephen Dorff (Public Enemies) and James Franco (127 Hours) round out the cast.
Agree'd. Michael Shannon is becoming one of my favourite actors and one of the best actors currently working.
For anyone who hasn't seen it, here's a 4 minute test promo from 2011: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDPtT1NYWYM
Looks like they've changed his performance for the actual film. Hopefully it's as good as the test promo's performance he gives. He comes off as more mature and deteriorated back then and now he seems... not quite as intense but still awesome.
I can't think of a more scary actor nowadays than Michael Shannon. I would be really surprised if he could ever be the lead in one of those fluffy romantic comedies.... Looks great! Glad to see the ageless Winona in this too.
