Lionsgate Films and Roadside Attractions have released a trailer for director
Jeff Nichols' (Take Shelter) latest film, Mud (2012), starring Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Sam Shepard, and Sarah Paulson. The film will be screened at the Sundance Film Festival later this week, and it will open in theaters across the nation on April 26th.
Official synopsis: Mud is a coming-of-age drama centered around two fourteen-year-old boys who encounter a mysterious fugitive hiding out on an island in the Mississippi. Intrigued by this man, they enter into a pact to help him evade capture and reconnect with the love of his life. Though it is hard for the boys to discern truth from fiction when it comes to Mud, it isn't long until their small Arkansas town is besieged by a beautiful girl with a line of hunters in tow.
Note: Mud had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last year, where it was nominated for the prestigious Palme d'Or Award.
Jeez. They didn't even acknowledge Joe Don Baker in the trailer! He was in it for MAYBE a quarter of second. I say "maybe" because everyone in the shot was bathed in shadow. You couldn't see. He only had one line regarding his son's murder. It seems he would've been better suited for Sam Shepard's role.
