Genius Products Hints at Blu-ray Support

Posted February 25, 2008 07:58 AM by Josh Dreuth

The Weinstein Company Trevor Drinkwater, CEO of Genius Products, stated during a company presentation that "Blu-ray is the last format in, and that has cleared the way for the industry to get aggressive around next generation DVD." Genius Products distributes films for studios such as The Weinstein Company and Tartan Films.

While no Blu-ray titles have been announced from Genius Products, this statement hints that Genius Products will be following the rest of Hollywood by adding support for the high definition format.

Everyone should be falling into line now. It's been mentioned before but it's the domino effect. Warner toppled the first piece and everybody else is now following.

More... MORE studios! YES! Our Blu-ray.com studio page should show the foreign studio logos and names as well. Piling on? Sure. But why not?

We not only need more studios, but more movies!

Actually it's a shame that now every new BD release is announced on this website as "news" - compare with DVD - you get about 200 new releases a week at Amazon ... let's hope Blu will catch up to this as soon as possible ...

the new "enemy" is DVD ... 8-]

I would love to see Grindhouse on Blu-Ray in a luxurious special edition with the trailers and everything. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Miramax, and therefore Disney, own Kill Bill, Sin City, Pulp Fiction, etc.?

@ bondfooll
You are correct. As many Beuna Vista titles even showcase Sin City as coming soon! But no date
for any of the titles mentioned.
