Not as good as the original, but definitely worth the rental cost in order to see if you like it enough to include it in your BD collection.

Personally, I will be buying it.

Another prime example of a remake that was highly unecessary imo. The original was great in its own right, this scraping the bottom of the barrel by movie companies is getting old already.

It was alright. Would have been sweet if combo pack included the original as well

Wait, this got released in the cinemas or what? I kept waiting for it to be released over here but nary a peep. I might buy it if it comes down in price. But otherwise, eh.

Please don't blind buy people. I did see this film and the horrible reviews are accurate. I loved the original Red Dawn but this remake is really poor quality.

This movie was made several years ago and the studio knew it was garbage way back then, it only got a theatrical release in '12 to try and cash in on Peeta and Thor.

It was a fine movie. The only thing I disliked was the abrupt ending..

i dont know why everybody is trashing on this movie. I liked this one a little better than the original, but the ending was kind of weird. im picking this up if its $20 on release day.

From what I read about this film, it was supposed to be about the Chinese invading the U.S.. But because the Chinese got offended, and the producers wanted to maintain access to the lucrative Chinese box office, they changed the invaders from China to North Korea. The changes include a change to an opening sequence summarizing the story's fictional backdrop (dropping the original storyline of Chinese "repossession" after the US defaults on loans for a Chinese and Russian-backed North Korean invasion), re-editing two scenes, and using digital technology to change Chinese symbols and dialogue to Korean.

I wish that they would include the original cut of the film, with the Chinese dialog and symbols and everything else. To be honest, the Chinese as our invaders seems more realistic, although I'm sure it wouldn't be because of their loans to us.
