The Weinstein Company has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to acclaimed director Wong Kar Wai's latest film, The Grandmasters (2012). The company will also control the distribution rights to the film in all English-speaking Canadian territories, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
The Grandmasters, which chronicles the life of legendary martial arts master Ip Man, stars Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Zhang Ziyi, Chen Chang, Song Hye-Kyo, Bruce Leung Siu-Lung, and Zhao Ben-Shan.
Earlier today, The Grandmasters had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival (as The Grandmaster).
Note: Below are the official poster, teaser, and trailer that were released last year, when the film opened in China and Hong Kong.
" distribution rights to the film in all English-speaking Canadian territories, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. ".........now thats funny , can't wait for the Brits to have a snit fit .
@Old Bones Me either. It's hilarious. I import basically everything I buy so I'm used to it but so many people on this website are so whiney about having to import or if a disc is region locked. Have patience and get yourself a multi-region blu-ray player in the meantime lol
GC Riot---It's bad, because either it may go to Echo Bridge for issuing on Blu-Ray, and the quality will be bad, or, we may wait forever to see it on Blu-Ray here, much like a LOT of the Weinstein owned or licensed titles. They still have yet to issue Wong Kar Wai's "My Blueberry Nights" here in the states and it looks great on my region "B" import.
