Amazon Blu-ray Deal of the Week: Bond 50 (Expired)

Posted February 10, 2013 08:32 AM by Josh Katz

MGMAmazon's Blu-ray Deal of the Week affects MGM Home Entertainment's Bond 50 collection. Through February 16th, Amazon is offering this package for $129.99, or 57% off its standard MSRP.

The twenty-three-disc set includes:
This bundle presents all of MGM's James Bond thrillers - minus the 1966 spoof Casino Royale and last year's Skyfall - in book-style packaging featuring photographs of all the Bonds and their corresponding Bond girls as well as over 120 hours of supplemental features, such as behind-the-scenes documentaries, interviews with cast and crew members, archival footage, rare deleted scenes, and audio commentaries.

The deal expires at 12 AM PST/3 AM EST next Sunday, February 17th.

$99.99 previously. Now 129.99 is a deal?

I missed getting this last year for $99.99, so if anything, $129.99 more than makes up for it. Will definitely be getting it this week along with Skyfall.

I pulled the trigger at the 99.99 price point. Watching them in year order; almost through with the R. Moore ones (thank goodness). Overall, great PQ and AQ. Not a fan of the cardboard slip-in format for this book form, though.

I missed the $99.99 deal but got in on the UK deal right after it (75 before VAT refund, around $122 shipped to the States). If you missed those, NOW is the time to buy -- especially when you see how much Marketplace & eBay sellers charged while it was OOP. It works out to less than $6 per movie, so unless you're just filling in the gaps in your old Bond BD collection (or otherwise sticking to the stand-alones) it's a must-buy.

One small problem in the description: Why mention CR 1967 as an omission, but *not* Never Say Never Again? Both are omitted for the same reason -- they're "unofficial" (non-EON) Bond films, even though MGM/Fox now owns the video rights to both.

Well, I am usually irritated when I hear that something I bought just a month or two ago is cheaper now...but I've enjoyed the set so much already that the $20 difference is fine by me.

Why don't they ever know about the Family and TV deals of the week? this weeks TV deal includes Blu-ray options, and are all the previous seasons of Weeds and Nurse Betty for $12.49-$18.99

C'mon Blu-ray.com! Start including these weekly sales in the news items too!

JRob, that would be $30, not $20. 129.99 - $99.99 = $30! Paying $30 more by you is fine? LOL.

Amazon.ca doesn't even hold these anymore and third party sellers can't stop getting the prices higher and higher. Not happy about this. Not at all.

Will save my money and wait, just like I did for the Zodiac Blu-ray... saved $70 on that one simply by waiting, so will wait on this one as well until sellers can pull their heads off a bit... or that Amazon.ca actually come back to their senses and fill their merchandise the right way.

Sorry, new. I forgot to mention that I paid $150 at Christmas. So, now it's $20 cheaper than when I bought. The $99 deal makes me want to hang myself.

This collection will probably be reissued in the near future with Skyfall included. Amazon (et al.) will want to clear their inventories of the current version and drop the price further. Potential purchasers may want to hold back until the reissue is imminent.

There is am empty space inside the set for Skyfall already.

Yep, just throw out the paper placeholder, insert the disc, and you're good to go. They most likely did this so they wouldn't have to go through the process of creating new packaging like you described. Plus, with Skyfall being a new release, they'd have to tack another $20 onto the pricetag, making it even less attractive.

Think im gonna bite this week on this. Been wanting it since release, but kept putting it off. Came real close during BF sale, but never pulled the trigger. Definitely gonna purchase this, who knows when price will drop again.
