Texas-based independent distributors Well Go USA have acquired the North American distribution rights to Korean director Park Hoon-Jung's action thriller New World (2012), starring Choi Min-Sik (Oldboy), Hwang Jung-Min (A Bittersweet Life), Lee Jung-Jae (The Thieves), and Song Ji-Hyo (A Frozen Flower). The film will open in select metropolitan areas on March 22.
A detective (Lee Jung-Jae) goes undercover to become the third highest ranked member of a crime gang. After the boss of the gang dies, the undercover detective becomes involved in a conflict with the second highest ranked member of the gang (Hwang Jung-Min), who believes in him, and a high-ranking officer from the police organization (Choi Min-Sik), who considers him merely a pawn.
Note: Director Park Hoon-Jung was one of the screenwriters for Kim Jee-Woon's blockbuster I Saw the Devil.
