IFC Films announced today that it has acquired the North American distribution rights to The Canyons (2012), the controversial thriller directed by Paul Schrader (the screenwriter of the cult Taxi Driver) and written by Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho). IFC plans to have the film in theaters across the U.S. in early summer.
In a statement released earlier today, director Paul Schrader said: "I am delighted our film has found an enthusiastic home at IFC. We envisioned The Canyons as a multi-platform release from the beginning and no company knows that world better than IFC."
The Canyons stars Lindsay Lohan, porn star James Deen, acclaimed director Gus Van Sant, Nolan Gerard Funk, and Amanda Brooks.
......and out of theaters early summer. I pray to God no one spends their hard earned money on anything Lohan is associated with. She's garbage. And a horrible actress.
I have to admit if this was Lohan doing a porn movie then I would probably be more interested. That will probably be the next thing after her acting career comes to an end.
Looks like an interesting approach, certainly worth seeing. Little aggressive folks. If you love film, which I'm assuming you do if you're on this site, why not see it? You don't have to buy a special edition steelbook, but a rental? why not.
I'm a fan of Ellis's novels, so I'll give this a whirl at some point. Lohan's annoying tabloid life has no bearing on what movies I watch. And you never know when something might turn out to be an overlooked gem.
"Hate on Lindsay all you want, guys, but at the end of the day, everyone of you would be tearin' up that fine ass! Come clean, and admit it! "
I don't know if you've seen her recently, but she's looking pretty goblin-like. Would I still have sex with her? Yeah...I'm a dude, and it'd be cool to say "I fu$ked Lindsay Lohan", but as far as celebrities go, I wouldn't even put her in my top 100.
The last one was just last year. She don't look bad from MY house! Just sayin'! You know? She may be a bit messed up in the head, but it could simply be because she doesn't have a decent man in her life ... one that will give her the Ol' Ramrod of Reason when she fucks up. I'd take Lindsay any day of the year. She'll eventually mature. When? Who knows. But she will. That's for certain. Besides, we all know that we can't believe 90% of the shit floating around in tabloids and on teeny-bopper websites like TMZ.
P.S. I thought she did a great job in "Labor Pains." Not my kind of flick, but it was charming to say the least, and so was she.
To be fair, those pics of her as a redhead, the first one in the bikini and whatnot were from about 8 years ago, I remember those...the height of Lohan's hotness, like 2004-2005...good Lord she was incredible in those days. Not nearly as hot now but of course I'd still go for it with her, who wouldn't?
Some of the comments on this page (and their approval ratings) are absolutely disgusting. The level the discussion has taken - judging, shaming, and insulting a woman's body - is unacceptable.
has paul schrader and gus van saint gotten so hard up for money there hiring has been burned out teen stars and porn stars now? yikes! ive always thought james deen was hot but why? why this?
@brainofj72: Oh, that's right. As we get older we no longer want to get it on with hot women. We would rather go after the wrinkly, cottage-cheese-ass, Depends-type gals. Go back to the nursing home, dude.
@Boothill Gunslinger "As we get older we no longer want to get it on with hot women."
I don't think you'll be getting it on with Lindsay Lohan no matter how many times you see the film.
If I just want to see a "hot woman" there are plenty of movies with plenty of women that are hotter than Lohan. I just put a little more thought into what I want to watch.
Lins has always been a great actress aside from her physical assets. It is beyond me why so many people who probably never heve met her in person and to whom she has never caused any grief hate her so much. I look forward to the film.
Actually, having a budget of $250.000 isn't that big of an excuse not to make at least a decent movie. Especially for a plain drama without any major action scenes or special effects. Pi and Eraserhead were both made on lower budgets and they are excellent movies.
