Amazon's Blu-ray Deal of the Week affects Warner Home Entertainment Lethal Weapon Collection on Blu-ray. Through February 23rd, Amazon is offering this package for $36.99, or 54% off its standard MSRP of $79.98.
This box set collects all four entries in the popular action franchise, which stars Mel Gibson (The Road Warrior) and Danny Glover (The Color Purple) as two initially mismatched detectives whose very different crime-fighting styles make them the scourge of Los Angeles' worst criminals.
Warner's five-disc package offers these following films:
Each picture is presented in its original aspect ratio (1.85:1 for Lethal Weapon and 2.39:1 for the rest) with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio tracks. The set also contains a number of bonus materials, including behind-the-scenes documentaries, interviews with cast and crew members, archival footage, deleted scenes, music videos, and audio commentaries on the four films.
The deal expires at 12 AM PST/3 AM EST next Sunday, February 24th.
Not a great deal: it was 34.99 for about a month on amazon during the holidays too. At the very least they should have repeated that price. Amazon just isn't what it used to be.
On new releases they are a price matcher, but on Deals of the Week like this one and their Deals of the Day they are their own deals most of the time. This may not be that good of a deal really, but last week's Farscape Deal of the Day was the lowest it has ever been.
Also, no, you can't match this at Best Buy. That was only around the holidays.
Yes, you can match it at Best Buy. As long as the price is active. The policy is to Price Match Amazon-Direct going forward. I should know, I work there.
have to confirm with THS... I've had Best Buy price match quite a bit in the recent past with no problems whatsoever. give it a shot, you've got nothin to lose.
Are these the new re-masters or a package of the original "so-so" releases? I heard the franchise is getting new transfers and would rather buy them than the old ones... a bit like Terminator for me as far as wanting the new one. Is this set priced to make room for the new one?
These are all movies that will be $5 a piece on Blu in probably a year. Look at the Alien set when it came out on sale for like $80. I bought it for $19.99. Also bought the Rocky set for the same price. This will be $20 in less than a year.
I too am waiting for a possible individual release of these remastered versions. Have zero interest in owning the third or fourth films. I have seen this box set for around the $20 price point so I perhaps will buy this box set at that price next time it's offered.
