The first trailer for NBC's upcoming TV series Hannibal has been released. Created by Bryan Fuller (TV's Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me) and starring Mads Mikkelsen (A Royal Affair, Casino Royale), Hugh Dancy (Black Hawk Down), Laurence Fishburne (King of New York, The Matrix), Caroline Dhavernas (Devil), and Lara Jean Chorostecki (Please Kill Mr. Know It All), the show will premiere Thursday, April 4 at 10 p.m EST.
Outside of the United States, Hannibal will be shown on Sony Pictures Television Networks' AXN international channels.
Official synopsis: Explores the early relationship between the renowned psychiatrist and his patient, a young FBI criminal profiler, who is haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers.
Note: Director Ridley Scott's Hannibal is currently available on Blu-ray as part of The Hannibal Lecter Collection. You could read our review of the release here.
I'm a big Bryan Fuller fan. I Love Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies and even liked the Mockingbird Lane pilot. Cannot wait for this... excited to see him tackle darker material.
Nothing can possibly replace Hopkins' performance as Lecter, but this could be an interesting show. I'll take a look at the pilot and see if there's anything to enjoy.
Can't be any worse than Hopkins's dripping, theatrical portrayal. I had hoped that the caretakers of the "property" would've had the wisdom to cast Rutger Hauer.
Mads Mikkelsen is a great choice, but yea, this is NBC we're talking about...this network is only good for a couple decent comedies, that's it. And this type of content should be on AMC, FX, or premium cable...
Agree with some of the previous comments, despite the great cast and team I approach this with great trepidation given it's on NBC. Would be far less weary were it Showtime, HBO, AMC, etc.
