Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release on Blu-ray Gene Kelly's Hello, Dolly! (1969), starring Barbra Streisand, Walter Matthau, and Michael Crawford. The release will be available for purchase online and in stores across the nation on April 2.
It's turn-of-the-century Yonkers, New York, where an ambitious young widow with a penchant for matchmaking (Streisand), has an idea for the perfect match-tight-fisted, local merchant Horace Vandergelder (Matthau) and-herself! As she tries to win his heart, we're treated to one of the most musically entertaining, hilariously underhanded plots in film history. Directed by Gene Kelly, this Oscar winner for Best Sound, Music, Score and Art Direction/Set Decoration is among the world's most cherished films.
I also agree with Arkadin: Releasing more of the R&H titles would be nice.
Also, just yesterday I was wondering when the Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Concert might get released. I would like to see it again but this time on blu.
Great news! I have grown to like parts of this film a lot, especially "Put On Your Sunday Clothes." Which is why I liked Wall-E from the very beginning.
Glad to see more great musicals being released on BD; can't wait to see two of my personal favorites - "Brigadoon" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" get released on BD too!
Sadly never see this movie complett. To bad this blu-ray contains not really a lot bonus-Features but anyway... will be ordered! I hope its coming out in outstanding quality as the movie deserve it (means: complett restored and in HD)
