Warner Bros. has revealed that filmmaker Peter Jackson will be hosting a live, previously unannounced Q&A after the March 24th online preview of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The live event will be limited to holders of an UltraViolet code, available by purchasing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey which arrives on Blu-ray Combo Pack and Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack on March 19th.
The first look preview and Q&A component are scheduled to begin on Sunday, March 24th at 3pm EST/12pm PST, at hobbit.com/sneak. Video questions can be submitted from March 12th through March 19th on the official Hobbit Facebook page, or through the Vine mobile app using the hashtag #askPeterJackson. Links to video questions can also be sent via Twitter using the hashtag #askPeterJackson.
During the event, Jackson will present film footage, glimpses of the set and answer questions from fans. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens in U.S. theaters on December 13th.
I remember when they used to have these type of events on Blu-ray. Pass. I'm not opening an ultraviolet account for this, even if it is my very favorite film franchise. I'm sure the minutes will be widely reposted online, the following day.
I'm just gonna wait it out until the whole set is released. I've already bought LOTR in two different DVD formats plus blu-ray. This time around I know how it will play out; I'll just be patient and get it all at the end. If I need to watch it before then, I'd rather toss a little cash at my local mom and pop rental store instead of double dipping.
