Regular Show: The Complete First & Second Seasons Blu-ray

Posted March 14, 2013 12:31 AM by Webmaster

Warner 90th AnniversaryWarner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced the release of Cartoon Network's Regular Show: The Complete First & Second Seasons. The surreal adventures of blue jay and raccoon duo Mordecai and Rigby come to Blu-ray on July 16th.

Official Synopsis: Sarcastic blue jay Mordecai (voiced by J. G. Quintel) and somewhat responsible raccoon Rigby (William Salyers) are best friends. They even work together at a park owned by Pops (Sam Marin), a big lollipop-headed guy. Which seems normal enough. They've got a cranky gumball machine for a boss (Martin) and they work alongside a Zen-like yeti named Skips (Mark Hamill). Yep. Everything is as regular as can be.

The 2-disc set features all twelve first season and twenty-eight second season episodes. Extras include:

  • Commentaries for all 40 episodes
  • The Unaired Regular Show Pilot
  • Animatic for the Pilot
  • Animatic for "The Power"
  • Original Pencil Tests from Saerom
  • CG Test for Hodgepodge Monster
  • 2010 Comic Con Teaser Trailer
  • "The Naďve Man from Lolliland" Student Short
  • Party Tonight Music Video
  • Interview with JG Quintel
  • JG Pitches "The Power"
  • Original Regular Show Commercials

What's up with these horrible-looking cartoons these days? Another cartoon drawn by a 5 year old...

This sounds like a sexy HD Regular Show time! Probably gonna get this!!

Oh, if only Gravity Falls and Legend of Korra were distributed by Warner! They seem to be only ones willing to release quote-on-quote "kids shows" on Blu Ray

Very cool. Although I do have a concern about how many episodes on each disc. But since 11 mins per, that might not be too bad.

Cool beans. I'm glad it's the full seasons compared to the 11 (random) episodes on one DVD.

YAY!!!! My husband and I *love* this show and have bought most of them on the PlayStation Video store. For weeks we had a ritual of watching a few episodes before bed almost every night.

The extras look great, I just hope it has lossless audio. can webmaster confirm audio/video specs and number of discs?

I'd love to see Cartoon Network go back an remaster their older shows (like Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, etc) in HD, similar to what CBS has done for Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The episodes are only roughly 10 minutes a piece. So more than enough room.

@Adam4Rizzel. Keep in mind that each episode is just a little over 10 minutes long. But yes, it does seem odd that they'd use 25GB discs rather than 50. The listing could be wrong.

LOL I can't believe I'm the only one that thinks that this looks atrociously bad!! What is Mark Hamill doing voicing a show like this??? Whatever happened to quality animated cartoons? Not long ago there was a post about a similar show, Adventure Show or something along those lines coming out on BD; where did the standards for animation go? So now every Tom, Dick and Harry is doing their own cartoon out of their basement?? These are sad times we live in...

@TheManInBlu If you hate these shows you'll want to skip Uncle Grandpa when it starts. Personally I love these shows. They're funny and well done. Regular Show being a love letter to the 80's and Adventure time taking inspiration from Zelda and D&D.

I do agree with you TheManInBlu that there doesn't seem to be many cartoons anymore that have great animation, like beautifully animated shows such as Animaniacs or Batman the Animated Series, from when i was younger. Though i've never seen this show so can't pass judgement, but from the clip above it looks like one of those surreal shows that doesn't take itself seriously, has it's own unique style and humour, so looks worth a watch!
