Doctor Who: Series Seven, Part Two Blu-ray Detailed (Updated)

Posted March 27, 2013 08:54 PM by Webmaster

BBCBBC Home Entertainment has detailed the two-disc Blu-ray release of Doctor Who: Series Seven, Part Two, which features the next eight episodes in the long-running science fiction show. New companions, new enemies and new dangers await the Eleventh Doctor (Matthew Smith) in the second half of Series Seven, which arrives on May 28th.

Update: BBC has confirmed the Blu-ray release of Series Seven, Part Two does not include the 2012 Christmas Special, "The Snowmen," which is available separately here.

Official Synopsis: The Doctor kicks off this new run of adventures by searching for his companion Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman), an Impossible Girl he's already lost twice. Together they find themselves battling monsters on distant alien planets, trapped in a Russian submarine with a deadly passenger, chasing terrifying ghosts, delving into the heart of the TARDIS, facing the Crimson Horror in Victorian Yorkshire, and coming face to face with an army of upgraded Cybermen. The action grows and the Doctor's oldest secret threatens to be revealed as the world's longest running sci-fi series builds toward its explosive 50th anniversary in November of 2013. Also appearing this season are guest stars Dougray Scott, Warwick Davis, Celia Imrie, Richard E. Grant, Jessica Raine and Tamzin Outhwaite. Additionally, mother and daughter Dame Diana Rigg and Rachael Stirling will appear on screen together for the first time.

Steven Moffat, executive producer and lead writer, said, "It's the 50th year of Doctor Who and look what's going on! We're up in the sky and under the sea! We're running round the rings of an alien world and then a haunted house. There's new Cybermen, new Ice Warriors and a never before attempted journey to the centre of the TARDIS. And in the finale, the Doctor's greatest secret will at last be revealed! If this wasn't already our most exciting year it would be anyway!"

Episodes include:

  • The Bells of Saint John
  • The Rings of Akhaten
  • Cold War
  • Hide
  • Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS
  • The Crimson Horror
  • Nightmare In Silver (Originally: The Last Cyberman)
  • Finale, Title TBA
Special features include:

  • Prequel to "The Bells of Saint John"
  • 45-minute Special: The Companions
Doctor Who: Series Seven, Part Two premieres ahead of its Blu-ray release on Saturday, March 30 at 8pm EST on BBC America as part of Supernatural Saturday. Following the premiere of "The Bells of Saint John," Matt Smith will be one of the first guests on BBC America's The Nerdist, hosted by Chris Hardwick (The Talking Dead), at 10pm EST.

Love Doctor Who, but like everyone else I think I'll wait for the complete series 7 to come out.
Also, glad that they included the Snowmen xmas special.

I'll wait for the complete series in about a year, maybe I'll get lucky and it'll be another $20 sale at Best Buy

also, BBC has the prequel up on their youtube for those who want to see it before the new episode

For those with Amazon Prime, you can watch both of the prequels mentioned above for free in HD.

(Well, I'm assuming that the "prequel to 'The Snowmen'" is what is otherwise known as "Demons Run -- Two Days Later".)

My wife reminded me that there was actually a different prequel to "The Snowmen". It would be a shame if "Demons Run -- Two Days Later" was not also included in the set.
