Zulu to Close the Cannes Film Festival

Zulu, a neo-noir political thriller set in Cape Town, will close the 66th edition of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. The film is based on the best-seller by Caryl Férey and is directed by French helmer Jerome Salle. It stars Orlando Bloom, Forest Whitaker, and Tanya van Graan.

Pathe Distribution is handling international sales of Zulu.

French actress Audrey Tautou (Amélie) will host the opening ceremony.

Australian director Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby will open the Cannes Film Festival. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Joel Edgerton.

(a) It should be made clear that this is *NOT* a remake of the 1964 classic of the same name. According to its IMDb summary, it's set in modern-day South Africa with characters dealing with scars from the apartheid era; the 1964 film was set during the 1879 Anglo-Zulu War.

(b) This article says *BOTH* Zulu *AND* The Great Gatsby will close Cannes. Which one is it???

I think the still from the film with the cars showing on the back makes it very clear that it is not, and it can't be, a remake of the classic film

Zulu will close at the Cannes Film Festival and The Great Gatsby will open the festival. I am looking forward to seeing both films and hope they can live up to their hype!

Gatsby will OPEN the festival not CLOSE.
I hope the title Zulu is an ironic reference to the old Zulu movies, otherwise it just adds more confusion to this age of remake overload!
