In case anyone has forgotten, it's almost ALWAYS a good deal to grab big Disney titles like this on Amazon preorder coupons (unless you're going for the Gold Box trick), ESPECIALLY if you're going 2D:
(a) The preorder guarantee, combined with Amazon's tendency (NOT guaranteed) to PM B&M release-week prices, means you should get the best deal BEFORE coupon. (The coupon is applied AFTER the guarantee.)
(b) If you're not Prime, you'll still get free Super Saver (be sure to pick it at checkout) as long as the BEFORE-coupon price when ordering is $25 or higher--even if it drops below $25 due to the guarantee.
(c) If the DMR coupon beats this one (or B&M pricing on the basic 2D combo beats this deal), that's usually known here in enough time to cancel. (Prime & release-date deliveries ship Thursday to Saturday before release; standard shipping is usually on release date.)
(d) Though there's been exceptions lately, DMR coupons are usually on the high-end package (i.e., 3D). If you want the 2D version, even if the coupon is 3D-only you still have your savings.
@MoulinBlu: Disney has in the past issued Steelbook exclusives in the U.S. thru Best Buy (either as a preorder pack or a separate release). That ended when Disney switched to cheaper alternatives (Ironpak, etc.) only to have Scanavo (makers of the *real* Steelbook) sue those companies off the market. Also, newer BB preorder offers have tended to involve pre-release downloads instead (that allows them to legally keep the preorder deposit if you cancel).
Finally: Though there is no OFFICIAL release date, Disney's fall Diamond (and Platinum before it) titles have always dropped on the first Tuesday in October. The 2D edition is 99.9% certain to drop on October 1; 3D is slightly less certain, but with Amazon preselling it alongside the 2D it'll probably hit October 1 as well.
Moulin_Blu, there were Steelbooks through Best Buy (but properly called Ironpacks I believe) I have 5, Lion King, Cinderella, Cars 2, Brave, and Finding Nemo. In pretty much all cases the cover art is/was far superior to the regular cover (Lion King is especially dare I say Beautiful). I was so hoping for many more as further releases came out. Sadly, they are no more
Love that 3D cover. With only a couple dollars difference between the 3D and 2D combo pack, I think it's worth it for the superior cover art on the 3D version as well as the included soundtrack download, even though I won't be using the 3D any time soon, if ever.
I was hoping for a digibook myself. They are my favorite to collect! I'm so excited for this release that I'm happy with anything. My Dvd copy went missing a long time ago and I've been holding off buying another one; waiting for the blu-ray.
Excellent news! This is one I simply must buy! All covers look awesome, but I have to agree with everyone, the 3D cover looks the best. I'm so amazed they were willing to use such a classy artwork for a home video release.
I hate how they always do this lately of not having the coupon for the "plain" version... I dont care for the digital copy, and I like the packaging coor scheme of the db/dvd only release. Why can't there be a coupon for that one to be the cheapest option...
I rather just wait for Black Friday in November because Amazon always lowers the movies to great prices, I got Cinderella Blu-Ray for 15$ on Black Friday instead of buying it when it came out in October last year.
