After wowing audiences at WonderCon, Warner Bros. Pictures and director Guillermo del Toro have released the early Spring convention's exclusive Pacific Rim trailer online. The film stars Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Ron Perlman, and Diego Klattenhoff, and is set to arrive in U.S. theaters on July 12th.
Synopsis: When legions of monstrous creatures known as Kaiju began rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes -- a washed up former pilot (Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Kikuchi) -- who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
I have no idea what to think of this movie. On one end we have Del Toro who is a fantastic filmmaker and the trailer looks pretty damn cool, but on the other end we have another alien invasion movie and the vfx look....weird. But if this and man of steel are a success, then warner brothers will have no choice but to make the justice league movie.
I've read that synopsis five times and I still can't make heads or tails of it. I mean: "which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge" -- why? Who thinks up such an idiotic concept? And: "even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju", so the solution is "a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past" -- that just make no sense at all.
it look's cool, but idk the story look's like its going to be blahh but action look's cool. This is not on my top 10 most want to see this summer list.but idk maybe i will see it .we will see how it does in the box .
People get so worked up over the storyline of this movie!!! GIANT MONSTERS are attacking humans!!! things go BOOM!!! We use ROBOTS to FIGHT BACK!!!!Yeah, storylines are extremely important... But i'll say this again, Its a movie about GIANT MONSTERS AND ROBOTS.... I'll see this day 1, I'll pick up some popcorn and soda, maybe some milk duds (feeling lucky ) and let the eye candy do what it's meant to do. Pure entertainment, nothing more
YAWN. Been there. Done it. GODZILLA VS MECHAGODZILLA. TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA. 30years ago. Yeah, now it's all CGI - Big deal. Same thing. I'm sick of Robo-monsters and alien robo-monsters. We know everything, anything can be done with CGI, there no magic any more. Same garbage over and over and over. Plus, all these wise ass, uber-cool people with attitude who never really take the situation seriously are all poured from the same mold and recycled from the last movie - BORING
Check your logic at the door: this is for the inner-kid in you! It may even make today's kids sit up and take notice that Dad's penchant for watching the old rubber suited monster movies --ain't so bad after all. So long as this turns out better than the BIG, bloated Hollywood version of Godzilla, I will not complain. bottom line: This looks like a fun film!
Looks like big loud popcorn fun. But I would break down the similarities like this. Mind meld (Avatar), big robots (Transformers), water aliens (Battleship/Battle Los Angeles), mega size battles (Clash/Wrath of the Titans).
