Mariah Carey's The Adventures of Mimi Coming to Blu-ray

Posted March 11, 2008 03:32 PM by Josh Dreuth

Image EntertainmentImage Entertainment has announced that they will bring the concert film 'Mariah Carey: the The Adventures of Mimi' to Blu-ray on April 15th, day-and-date with the DVD release. The concert, which was shot entirely in high definition, was the most successful tour ever for the pop artist. This two disc release will feature 19 tracks spanning her entire music career.

The first disc features the concert in 1.78:1 1080p video accompanied by a Dolby Digital audio track. Extras on this disc include behind-the-scenes footage as well as a jukebox feature which will allow viewers to select the order in which the songs can be heard. Additionally, it will include a documentary called "The Adventures of Mimi Tour", an inside look at the tour hosted by Mariah and her personal director, and "Lovers and Haters" - an original Mariah mini-movie directed by Spike Lee.

The second disc is a bonus CD shared by both the Blu-ray and DVD releases. It will feature an exclusive virtual store, free virtual ticket subscription, free ringtone, tour and ticket updates, and a free single download. According to the press release, these items on this disc are valued at $40. Your calculations may vary.

  1. It's Like That

DD would make this release horrible, if it was Lossless I would definitely buy this concert on BD!

On DVDEmpire they have it listed as DD 5.1 only http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_item.asp?userid=99366242767624&item_id=1397900&searchID=

The CD has better audio than the Blu-ray? Pass.

I agree: All modern concert discs should have lossless/LPCM audio. No exceptions.

For musical artists, the MUSIC is what is supposed to matter.

Dolby Digital for a concert?

Ugh... As far as egomaniacs go, Mimi rivals Michael Jackson and perhaps Napoleon for top honors.

I look forward to live concerts being released on Blu-ray, but I'll pass on this one.

Hate the fake boobs. Love the long legs.

I'm not a Mariah fan or a music concert fan for that matter so pass for me.

Curious to see of she passes the HD test though. From what I hear Cameron Diaz doesn't.

This will be my fifth concert on Blu-ray. I already have Destiny's Child, Incubus, Justin Timberlake and Beyonce and they all look and sound great. No nit-picking here.

This is great! IE has released music videos only on hd dvd format. This is a good sign that they will soon release many other goodies (incl. Roy Orbison, Chicago/EWF, Moody Blues, ELO, Yanni, etc) on blu-ray.

Most IE DVDs I own are in DTS 5.1 so I strongly believe this BD should have a DTS audio track at least. I already pre-ordered at Amazon ($19.95).

I really liked Mariah in her shy, pre-diva days but even with an attitude, I still like her voice (music). So, I'm sure I'll get this but I hope we get lossless audio. Not a deal-breaker for me but it's of course, preferable.

Just hope it's a press release error like I am Legend from Press Release listing the Bluray version with only DD 5.1, after that a TrueHD 5.1 was confirmed..

I mean it's a show... compressed audio should stay Web download imho... I mean Short Circuit is DTS HD MA 5.1 LOL!

Id rather pack my butt full of M-80's and squat over a flaming hibachi than see this concert

Best Buy has the dvd and I passed on it hoping one day it would be on blu-ray, which it is! I'll get it, hopefully they include PCM

Her last album sold 6 or 8 million (cant remember excactly) world wide, in todays world those numbers are amazing as great albums struggle to go 1x Platinum.

What Dolby Digital only? no PCM? A hidef music disk without lossless audio? I hope that was incorrectly reported.

I bought a DVD release few month ago ( 2 dvd set and yes it's a french edition, at least for one time we'got a release before US, usually it's 5 or 6 month later and sometimes never!). Picture was great ( I mean for a dvd) , and it must look amazing in HD extras are really poor but the concert was very good, it definitly deserves a hd relaese ( But please in PCM and no DD 5.1).
I'm looking forward for others concerts of Mariah Carey.

I like her music, and I can't wait to find a Blu-ray Karaoke capable machine to sing along!
