Warner Home Video has revealed that they will release blockbuster film 'Batman Begins' for Blu-ray on July 8th, day-and-date with the DVD re-release. No specs or extra features have been announced at this time, but we do know that the film will be offered either as a single disc release, or as part of a limited-edition box set.
Both the single disc and gift set editions will include an exclusive comic book prologue to the upcoming sequel 'The Dark Knight', which is set to hit theaters July 18th. The box set will also include a Batman Begins motion art lenticular, script pages, exclusive photos, storyboards, five collectible Batman Begins postcards, and $7.50 in movie cash toward a Dark Knight ticket.
The HD DVD release of 'Batman Begins' was one of the formats top sellers, and has remained exclusive to that format until now. Along with 'The Matrix', this is one of the most highly anticipated Warner HD DVD titles to be brought to Blu-ray.
I certainly do hope the PQ is up there, and it better have lossless sound. I'm curious about the box set, but don't know if it's worth the extra. I'll have to see what Amazon is selling it for.
Yep, this is a must-have and is by fay the best Batman film of all made so far. Looking forward to The Dark Knight and hope it's as good, maybe even better if that's possible.
didnt WB say that Batman Begins would be part of a box set that would include the originals? If so, would it be safe to assume that the box set will be released around the same time? maybe even the week of the dark knight release? Glad to see this one on the release schedule now.
This was one of the very few HD DVD releases that I was bummed out about not having. I hope they spread the movie out over a BD-50. The least they could do after keeping it from us for so long. Can't wait!!!
I believe the insiders said that it could possibly get a new transfer. Which i hope WB takes the time and really gives this an upgrade for Blu. I suppose we will know when they have the announcement with the specs.
I don't know about this one, I already have the DVD and it looks pretty good upscaled but it had ZERO
special features. I hope Warner makes this one worth it, otherwise I'm holding on to my old copy.
i dont know if Im going to buy this....its not the "extended cut".......might have to pass....lol....I kid....Im getting this first day....Batman rocks!!
I hope the 4 month delay is to use a new encode. None of those old HD-DVD VC-1 encodes. Hopefully we'll get AVC and lossless audio. (Though I can't use it right now).
So is this BD going to have the "PiP" In Movie Experience features like the HDDVD version? No mention of such Bonus View features..would be a shame because I thought thats why Warner held back this release on BD
Fantastic! I think the delay warrents us Blu Ray fans a new transfer since they have to redo the PIP (not a direct port for HDDUD mind you), and a lossless audio. Well worth the wait- and well worth upgrading from the standard DVD, which I selling off before this date! Sweetness!!!
oh boy... This will be a great rental. Until warner dumps VC-1, I'm not buying another one from them again. The last one I got from them was T3... and had to wait a Long time from them sending the fixed version.
Boy, do I hate VC-1. The hd-dud legacy still reeks in all of our players!
Game, set, match, baby! I already got July 8 marked on my calendar, and believe it or not, it's released the week before "The Dark Knight" comes out! The Blu-ray debut of "Batman Begins" and the opening day for "The Dark Knight" will be the best two weeks of my life! This Blu-ray victory could not be sweeter than this!
Hmmmm, I've never heard of this movie, was it any good ?? LOL I just about came out of my chair when I saw this finally had a release date. Get to watch this on Blu then see The Dark Knight !!! July is going to be amazing this year !!!
plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz warner i beg u *on my knees when i do so* i beg u plzzzzzzzzzzzz release it in Aus at the same time as US plzzzzzzzzzzzz this is one of the biggest movies i've been waiting for on Blu-ray and it'll sell heaps even in Aus
i kept watching this movie on HBO HD beacuase i didnt wanted to bother with the sd version, nice im gonna pop this on Blu-ray, we all owe it to warners yeah.
Hopefully, Warner Bros will give this film a new transfer and encoding.
While Batman Begins was an excellent HD transfer at the time of its release - these days, it's looking pretty damn soft up against more recent transfers from other studios. Compare it to, say, Black Snake Moan (Paramount), Spiderman 3 and Black Book (Sony), Pirates of the Carribean and Bridge to Terribithia (Disney), or King Kong and Hot Fuzz (Universal) and tell me you disagree.
On a 100 inch projection screen - even at 720p - the softness of the transfer is even more obvious.
Warner Bros... are you listening? Your transfers are good - but they're a definite step below what the other studios are putting out these days. Please re-transfer and re-encode this film!!!
Finally.... This is long overdue.... I can wait, patience is a virtue.... It will look sweet on my Samsung
46" 71 Series.... Hope they give a good soundtrack and picture....
I had this for HD DVD and the TrueHD soundtrack on the movie was the greatest soundtrack I've ever heard (even better then some PCM sound tracks). When he starts up the Tumbler in the alley...oh my god...HEAVEN!
