Shochiku Co. to Restore Three More Ozu Films
Posted May 23, 2013 03:20 PM by Webmaster
Japanese film studio Shochiku Co. has announced that it will restore three more films directed by Yasujiro Ozu: Equinox Flower (1958), Good Morning (1959), and Late Autumn (1960). A newly restored An Autumn Afternoon (1962), Yasujiro Ozu's final film, was screened earlier today in the Classics section of the Cannes Film Festival.
A restored version of Ozu's masterpiece, Tokyo Story (1953), was also screened earlier this year at the Berlin International Film Festival.
2013 marks the 110th anniversary of the birth of legendary Japanese director.
Tokyo Story was restored, huh? Hopefully that means a Criterion release is incoming. And the restoration is newer than the BFI blu-ray, is it? So a future release will look better... sounds good to me.
