Fox to Release Poltergeist II and III

Posted May 30, 2013 05:29 PM by Webmaster

20th Century FoxThe UK branch of 20th Century Fox has revealed that it is planning to bring to Blu-ray Brian Gibson's Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986) and Gary Sherman's Poltergeist III (1988). The two releases are expected to arrive on the market on October 7th.

Poltergeist II: The Other Side

The Freeling family settles into a new home following the annihilation of their former residence by terrifying visitors from the netherworld. But the spirits of the dead are still hell-bent on luring the family's clairvoyant daughter Carol Anne to "the other side". Starring Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Heather O'Rourke, Zelda Rubinstein, and Will Sampson.

Poltergeist III

They're back...again! And they're still looking for Carol Anne in this riveting and climactic finale to the Poltergeist trilogy. Sent by her parents to live in a Chicago high rise with her aunt (Allen), uncle (Skerritt) and cousin (Flynn Boyle), Carol Anne must face demons more frightening as ever before, as they move from invading homes to taking over an entire skyscraper. Starring Heather O'Rourke, Tom Skerritt, Nancy Allen, Lara Flynn Boyle, and Zelda Rubinstein.

Now if we can just get POLTERGEIST 3 here in the US! I know its a minority opinion, but I love that one - problems and all.

I never liked the third one, but I'll probably get it on the cheap to complete the collection. Already have 2, some exclusive version i guess it was.

I rarely ever thread crap. But I can't help myself here. I thought these sequels were absolutely terrible.

So jealous of the UK for getting "III". I'd love to see Scream Factory re-release "Poltergeist II" and pair it with "III" in a double feature Blu-ray. No doubt you could squeeze some juicy extras onto a release like that.

For just pure entertainment I would take the 3rd one over the 2nd any day. Both are bad, but part 3 is just endlessly watchable.

What would make this a must buy would be a great documentary about this third movie. Often the most fascinating movie docs are about the one that had a lot of problems. Alien 3 is a good example.

Australia has had Part II & III available as a double feature Blu Ray since last year. A good marketing technique to bundle them together, as people are less inclined to buy them separately. Neither were great movies, but never the less it is great to have them both in my Blu Ray collection!
