Why do they only do selected shorts and not the entire series in chronological order?

Crap! Since it is Olive they will not include subtitles which means that a large portion of the public will not get to enjoy these and since they will have been released already no one else will release it properly in the future! ughhh!!!!!

That sucks. No subtitles=No purchase
It's 2013, subs should be mandatory on all worldwide releases by now.

This is great news!
Hopefully these are uncut.
Here's hoping they find some of the long-lost shorts for future volumes.
I love the Mae West cover!

@filmmusic: because only completists would buy such a collection and there aren't enough of them. Warner's stopped producing the DVD Looney Tunes collections after #6 because sales of each set declined with each new release.
So Olive will put out this Betty Boop set and if it happens to sell, they'll do another one. Furthermore, Olive probably only licensed the rights to the first 12. You don't want to license everything until you know that you're actually going to release it. Etc.

@ZoetMB
Ok, thanks

@Ray O.Blu
I COMPLETELY agree!
if only Olive films could understand that it's losing customers that way.
I myself would like to buy many olive films, but now I'm bying nothing, because i really want the subtitles since English is not my native language, and it's easier to read than to hear..

and how much does it cost to put subtitles anyway?

Olive films and Warner Archive collection, lose a lot in that field..
Thank heavens Twilight time understood it, and most of its recent releases have subtitles now..

Newly mastered in 4k? Are these supposed to be the new 4K blu-rays?
