First Teaser Trailer for Hayao Miyazaki's The Wind Rises

Posted June 24, 2013 04:52 PM by Webmaster

The first teaser trailer for renowned Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki's latest project, Kaze tachinu a.k.a The Wind Rises (2013), has arrived. Based on Miyazaki's own comic, the film chronicles the life of Japanese engineer Jiro Horikoshi, who designed the Zero fighter plane used in the attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II.

The Wind Rises is set to open in theaters across Japan on July 20th.

@JediFonger

He's realistic. He is old, he hasn't got the energy to work long hours to do these movies properly anymore and he knows he won't be around forever. That's why he's been training younger blood to carry on after he and Takahata are gone, which for all they know, could be soon.

I kinda agree with you. It's not "too" sentimental for me but his last couple films (this and Ponyo) look like they're both pretty delicate. I love Ponyo though and this teaser really isn't much to go on but I'm not expecting anything intense. That's not to say this wont be great too. It probably will be. How many bad movies has he made? None. And he's had 5 years to make this one. I do miss his wackier years though.
