In the latest issue of Home Media Magazine, writer John Latchem interviewed Sofia Chang, Senior Vice President of Marketing for HBO Video with regards to the upcoming release of the mini-series 'John Adams' for DVD (no Blu-ray release has been announced at this time). At the conclusion of the interview, he asked when the popular 'Band of Brothers' mini-series would see Blu-ray release. She replied that a version was in the works for release later this year.
Currently, the only way to see 'Band of Brothers' in high definition is to import the now discontinued HD DVD releases from Japan (which were released by Toshiba). Now that HBO is readying the set, those highly anticipating the set (yours truly included) await anxiously for an official release date.
Excited for this. And I agree with the earlier comment about there being English subtitles. I know it is in English, but we turn on the subtitles for many movies, and the SD DVD version has junky subtitles. I hope these are better, as Blu almost always has outstanding subtitles.
This is a mandatory buy!!
The dvd set is good quality picture wise so the blu ray version should be stunning, the series cost an amazing £87 million to make, making it the most expensive show ever done, but when you see it you will understand why
AN AWESOME SERIES
What AWESOME news! This is terrific! I WILL buy this on the day it is released. Now, I just hope they
release the DEADWOOD series. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic! I'll definitely upgrade my standard DVD set with this one. Let's all hope they combine the fine vidoe with a lossless audio track to really make us all happy! :^)
I was just posting about wanting this series a day or two ago. This is some great news hopefully they release a complete Sopranos and Entourage before the holiday season. Plus John Adams
I just watched Band of Brothers and while watching I kept thinking 'this would look great on Blu-ray.'
It's a great show and I can't wait to see it in 1080p.
@hubcityrider
if u love war movies like apocalypse now saving private ryan and other world war 2 movies then u will like it but i would recommend u rent the DVD first from blockbuster and have a look at it first its a 10-part(if i remember correctly) series each episode an hour long
Now this is a great announcement. Probably the best mini series I've ever seen. I was just talking to someone about this the other day and was talking about whether or not it would get to Blu-ray sooner or later. I'm so happy about this. Now I must brace myself for the price.
This is gonna be soooooooooooo good.....
Sopranos....ehh don't know love the show but not really for blu ray.
Band of Brothers, with all the action in it, omg is it worth the cost of $100 for the pack.
