Shout Factory Teams Up with ITV Studios

Posted July 25, 2013 02:26 PM by Webmaster

Shout FactoryIndependent U.S. distributors Shout Factory and UK distributors ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) have teamed up to bring a number of classic films to North America. Many of the films covered by the new agreement the two distributors signed have never before been released on DVD or Blu-ray.

ITV's library includes such films as The Tamarind Seed, Capricorn One, The Cassandra Crossing, Brief Encounter, Saturn 3, The Merchant of Venice, Voyage of the Damned and The Boys from Brazil, and On Golden Pond.

"We are excited about this new opportunity with ITV Studios Global Entertainment. Many of these iconic films have been unavailable or long out-of-print in the home entertainment marketplace. We look forward to bring these cinematic treasures back to their original luster and present these films to movie fans and collectors on digital entertainment platforms as well as at retail," said Shout Factory's founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos.

"ITVS GE's catalogue boasts some internationally acclaimed films, and this deal with Shout Factory will give U.S. and Canadian consumers the opportunity to view some of these cinematic classics across physical and digital platforms." said Carol Lee, SVP Home Entertainment Americas for ITVS GE.

SATURN 3 - but only if it's the 103 min cut, not the 88 min theatrical version...

And yet again Shout and Scream Factory show why they are one of the best distributors of film. This is excellent news.

Finally Saturn 3 will get a decent release. I've only seen the 88 minute version, but would love to see an uncut 103 minute version, which I imagine would include the scene about the little trip they go after taking the Blue Dreamer. Great news. I can't wait.

I wonder if the Ipcress File could be part of the deal. I would love upgraded uncompressed audio. the UK release has just DD 5.1 and DD2.0

Cassandra Crossing, Boys From Brazil and Saturn 3 for me. I'm waiting anxiously for Shout Factory to release Blood Beach, Without Warning (1980), The Children (1980), Food of the Gods, Grizzly & Screamers (1979).

I am so glad that Shout is showing dedication to the catalog titles. Olive Films as well.

This is very good news especially as ITV cannot be bothered to release their back catalogue in the UK, apart from a few titles in 2008

Wow, The Boys from Brazil and Capricorn One. I wasn't expecting those to be released by Shout. I haven't seen these in a long time, but I remember liking them.

Hoping for some Hitchcock deep cuts - Secret Agent and Waltzes from Vienna have never been treated well on home video and who knows if Criterion will ever get round to them.

Great news as usual from Shout Factory. Can't wait for the Cassandra Crossing. A very underrated 70's disaster movie. Does anyone know if a 1979 Canadian film called "City on Fire" is part of the ITV catalog? It was never released on blu-ray (to my knowledge). I don't even think it was released on VHS. It starred Barry Newman, Ava Gardner, Leslie Nielsen, Susan Clark, Shelley Winters, Henry Fonda and James Fransicus (a lot of good actors from other 70's disaster flicks). I don't think I've seen this since its network debut in the early 80's. Would love to get this in hi-def. Not a good movie by any means, but entertaining nonetheless.

I may be mistaken but doesn't ITV also have The Legend of The Lone Ranger.

Great news. Hope Boys from Brazil isn't their first release as I just bought it. It was funny to see myself beaten by the very first post about Golden Pond. Most stoked about Saturn 3, but I'm sure there'll be plenty of nice surprises coming out of this deal.

Shout! did it again. This means we can expect blu-rays/dvds of:

1. Russian Roulette (George Segal)
2. 92 in the Shade (Peter Fonda, Warren Oates)
3. The Domino Principle (Gene Hackman)
4. Love and Bullets (Charles Bronson)
5. Escape to Athena (Roger Moore)
6. Firepower (James Coburn) Yes!
7. Killer Fish (Lee Majors)
8. Borderline (Charles Bronson)
9. Hawk the Slayer (Jack Palance)
10. The Salamander (Franco Nero, Anthony Quinn)
11. Green Ice (Ryan O'Neal)
12. The Evil that Men Do (Charles Bronson)
13. The Last Seduction (Linda Fiorentino)

I'll grab The Cassandra Crossing too if it's on blu!

City on Fire (1979) was released a long time ago in North America on VHS. It has been released in Germany and Spain region 2 on DVD. I have not heard of any DVD or Blu-ray release for region 1/A

Referring to Saturn 3. I seem to recall seeing this on HBO back in the day. I like the part where they show Farrah for the first time in her outfit...Ha! Hubba Hubba...nice getup. I'm sure Douglas and Keitel loved working with her the days she was dressed like that. The robots tiny head seems a bit silly/corny. The movie appears to be a mix between Pitch Black, Alien, Terminator and Charlie's Angels...kidding about the last one.

Capricorn One is a must for me. I have the import already which is great but I do miss the commentary from the DVD that is not on the Bluray.

@ DVD Aficianado - The Evil That Men Do? Wow! I have not heard the name of that movie in quite sometime. I thought it was a great movie. It's not a bad Iron Maiden song either. The memorable part is when Bronson take the "masturbator" and shoves it in that guys face...LOL! Also, the victims chanting EL DOCTOR! EL DOCTOR! at the end...classic Bronson!!!
