Lionsgate Home Entertainment will release all eight seasons of the hit Showtime comedy Weeds in a 16-disc Blu-ray set that includes all new bonus content featuring Mary Louis Parker and other members of the cast. Weeds: The Complete Collection - Limited Edition streets on November 5th.
Official Synopsis: When Nancy Botwin (Golden Globe-winner Mary-Louise Parker) faces both sudden widowhood and poverty, she's determined to do anything to keep her kids in suburbia, including taking on the job of neighborhood pot dealer. Subversive and hilarious, the complete series is as intoxicating as ever, with everyone's favorite pot-selling soccer mom and the rest of the Botwin clan dealing with the mafia, love affairs, the birth of an illegitimate child, and relocation after relocation. Watch as the Botwins' plans go up in smoke over the course of the series' eight unpredictable seasons.
The Complete Collection set features all 102 episodes of the show, special "glowing" acrylic case packaging, all previously released bonus content, and the following new and exclusive extras:
Weeds Cast Roundtable: A lively cast discussion about the evolution of the series, their favorite moments on the set, and the cultural impact of Weeds.
They Came, They Smoked, They Left: Recurring, fan-favorite cast members talk about being a part of the iconic series.
Nancy's Sexcapades: Cast members share what it is that makes Nancy Botwin so desirable, and why her sexual prowess was such a key element of the show.
Suburban Black Widow: Cast members offer their opinions on why many of Nancy's lovers met an early demise.
Really blows when studios release these exclusive bonus extras when longtime fans have invested in the individual season sets. And yeah I know this is nothing new and even I have learned to wait, but really if they are going to do this for more series, can't they just go the extra mile and include digital copy redemption?!!! Lol I have actually gotten really into storing my media in the cloud and so whereas now I am debating whether or not to pick this up, if it included digital redemption offerings I'd pre-order on the spot! Oh well, guess we'll have to see how the discs are packaged and final price on release day ;-P
We loved this show the first season or two (3?). It was great when it was just a widowed suburban housewife selling weed. Her wacky friends and family (Elizabeth Perkins, Kevin Nealon, Justin Kirk) were hilarious. Then it started becoming more and more absurd (the more she got in over her head). She'd get in deep with the wrong crowd and have to do more and more outrageous things to make it right. Next thing you know, she's up against an international cartel, and so on and so forth. I forget when we stopped watching, but we never regretted stopping.
I will give credit where credit is due. We only started watching this because the Blu-ray seasons were really cheap every BF. I was thankful for that.
Yeah agreed on the pricing of the blurays @HunkGolden. I got the first 4 seasons on bluray for $7.99 lol.
The first 3 seasons were hands down the best of course. I watched it all the way through though just because I am a complete-ist and I love Mary Louise Parker! Am mostly just curious about the new bonus features.
Really enjoy this show, the performances and witty dialogue make it. It did lose it's way after the first couple of years as far as storylines, but picked up nicely again towards the end. I'd pick this up if it was a great price!
The first couple of seasons were great. Once Nancy left Agrestic, things just got really unbelievable. I can suspend disbelief only so far, and she would have been instantly capped as soon as she started dealing with Guillermo and the drug cartel. Why they took it down that road is beyond me, but it ruined the show for me.
I don't know how I even made it that far, but I gave up after the end of Season 6. I really don't give two shits what happened to this character or show. Cool for fans, but I felt they stopped caring about fans after Season 3; show went straight into shit territory.
Thanks Maddyfan2012 - that sure as hell beats Amazon's $84 price tag! I'll get rid of my seasons 1-7 blu rays in the meantime since all 8 seasons are already on Netflix.
I loved the show as it was running but have been rewatching over the past 4 weeks or so and am up to the beginning of season 8. I now see what everyone was talking about, it going over the rails. It was just so compelling at the time - I knew nothing about drugs or the behind-the-scenes (no matter how far-fetched this show was).
