Sony Pictures Classics has acquired the North American distribution rights to director Bennett Miller's latest project Foxcatcher (2013), starring Channing Tatum, Steve Carell, and Mark Ruffalo. The studio plans to have the film in North American theaters on December 20th.
Synopsis: The film is the true story of the murder of an Olympic wrestler by John du Pont. A paranoid schizophrenic and heir to the du Pont chemical fortune, John du Pont built a wrestling training facility called Team Foxcatcher on his Pennsylvania estate, where in 1996, he shot and killed Olympic gold medal-winning wrestler David Schultz. Police never established a motive for the crime, though Du Pont died last year in a Pennsylvania prison at the age of 72.
Note: Miller's previous two films, Capote and Moneyball, are already out on Blu-ray courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. See our listings and reviews of these releases here and here..
