Columbia Pictures and FilmDistrict have released the first teaser trailer for director Paul W.S. Anderson's highly anticipated new project Pompeii (2014), starring Emily Browning, Kit Harington, and Carrie-Anne Moss. The film is set to arrive in theaters across the United States on February 21, 2014.
Set in the days leading up to the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, a slave on a ship heading for Naples works to get home to save the woman he loves and his best friend, a gladiator trapped inside the city's coliseum.
Huge Game Of Thrones fan so i'll watch anything with Sean Bean, kit Harrington or Peter Dinklage or Charles Dance. Plus, I think this looks pretty cool, even with all of the cgi and fact that it's Gladiator meets Dante's Peak, or Volcano.
@hewylewis, I agree 100%. The only really good film that this guy has directed was Event Horizon, which would be an amazing film if it wasn't for the terrible third act. And Mortal Kombat is a guilty pleasure of mine. But yes, this may suck hard because it is Paul W.S. Anderson.
" highly anticipated " - What are they talking about ? Paul W.S. Anderson is a hack ! Who is he related to ? Why does he get to keep making movies ? His movies have the worst dialogue I have ever heard . So this article is trying to convince us that everyone has been waiting for this crap fest to come out .
Of course this film is going to suck, its a Paul W.S. Anderson film! And to think that Roman Polanski tried years to get his own Pompeii project off the ground, which would have been an adaptation of the Robert Harris novel, and he got no where. All of a sudden Hack WS Anderson comes along and he does it in a flash. How long did it take him to get financing and approval for this?
You guys are so pessimistic about this fine director that it sickens me. I'm sure Pompeii will be as good as his classics There Will Be Blood and The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Magnolia and The Life Aquatic.... just to name a few.
No joke, for a minute I thought this was the other "arty" Paul Anderson, one look at those gerry-curls on the still from the trailer and "oh" this must be the "cheezy" Paul Anderson. Still, I won't write this off for what it is, loved Event Horizon, and didn't he do the first Resident Evil, that was OK. Mortal Kombat is in my wishlist to blind-buy for a potential guilty pleasure.
This is probably a 2 hour film that is really only 90 minutes if you put all the slow mo at normal speed. PWS Anderson has had so many opportunities to make something awesome and failed at most of them. I love Event Horizon and enjoyed Soldier quite a bit but nothing since. This looks like more of the same.
