Well at least it has extras for those who do plan to buy it. I thought the concept was interesting(even if it did look like a ripoff of Men in Black and Dead Like Me), but the reviews and box office were so bad that I figured at best it was a rental.
my girlfriend and I actually enjoyed this movie. is it a classic? no. is it a derivative of other movies? yes, but most films are in some way at this point. 3d was garbage I read but this would be a good movie to grab when it's $15 or under
Man screw the haters on here!!! I watched the movie the other day and I thought it was really fun and entertaining! Screw the critics and haters. They definitely don't know how to have a good time at the movies anymore. Everybody wants Oscar worthy in every movie these days
This really wasn't as bad as lot of people said it was. It was decent. It just wasn't anything original or justified the budget that it has used. I liked it, just not enough to buy it day 1. Will definitely pick it up when it goes down to less than $10.
Just watched this the other day, and even though I love sci-fi movies, this one was a stinker. Men In Black was funnier, better written, and had better chemistry between the main characters. I didn't totally hate it, just wasn't very good.
Jeff Bridges' voice was a little irritating as well for some reason, like he was trying too hard.
Mary-Louise Parker and Kevin Bacon stole the show!
I might buy it if I find it for $5 later on, just because I am a sucker for sci-fi movies :-)
bowlingbilly10 , the difference between the "haters" and you is that the "haters" aren't willing to accept crap. It doesn't have to be Oscar worthy, but something original and well-acted once in a while would be nice. My opinion, and maybe I'm wrong, is that you're pretty young and you've grown up in an era would movies have mostly been garbage, therefore you have no concept of what "good" is. Your idea of good is if a movie has tons of fake-looking CGI effects and 3D. Story and acting are probably the last things on your mind.
Blind buy for me. Nov 1st is my birthday. October 31st is my wife's and mine 20 year anniversary. On this week...I intend to take off work on those 2 days, purchase RIPD 3D and Monsters University 3D, and watch and enjoy.
I don't see why so many and critics hate this and it did so badly.. it wasn't amazing or anything, it reminded me of Min in Black meets Dead Like Me but I like both of those so I actually enjoyed this movie, but I'm not too sure if I'd watch it again. maybe it it gets below $10.
sygnus - if not liking a pile of dog shit like RIPD and making fun of those such as yourself and bawlingbilly who are ok with throwing money away on said dog shit makes me an asshole, then I consider a very high compliment, so thank you. Always better to be an asshole than a moron.
says the guy willing to spend money on RIPD, your opinion is appreciated but not in any way valid. You're right, I do have issues, issues with people who are willing to accept whatever junk Hollywood decides to crap out on a regular basis, I assume you'll be first in line for Lone Ranger, Getaway, After Earth, White House Down and the Mortal Instruments as well? At least the lines won't be long haha
If you call going to see a movie like R.I.P.D. a good time at the movies, you're either deaf, blind, deaf AND blind or you're Ryan Reynolds. If you are in fact Ryan Reynolds, then I must request you get a new agent, the one you have right now is shit.
@nathanp -- You're right, I'll prolly end up watching all of those movies when it comes on BD. I watch pretty much every movie out there. You want to talk about crappy movies. Go watch Scary Movie V. I liked the first two but this one was complete garbage.
@nathanp You talk a big game calling people morons because they like a movie you don't. Funny considering you have Alice in Wonderland (the god awful Burton film, not the Disney classic), Paranormal Activity, Charlie's Angels, Armageddon, Transformers and other Michael "mindless explosions" Bay films, which define "cinema trash".
Point is everyone here has a guilty pleasure, a movie he/she likes that many consider trash. I have plenty myself (Transformers and Resident Evil to name a few). It doesn't make them a moron for liking it.
@leburn98 -- Hey, Armageddon & Transformers are awesome movies!! But I see your point, everyone has their own personal opinions. People just like to trash on other people's opinion which is rude & selfish...
