Natural Born Killers Announced (Updated)

Posted April 14, 2008 10:59 AM by Josh Dreuth

Warner Bros. Warner Home Video has announced that they will release the Oliver Stone film 'Natural Born Killers' for Blu-ray on June 10th as a "coffee book" edition. The film, which stars Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis, will be presented in its theatrical form, and not of the four minute longer Director's Cut. Video will be presented as 1080p VC-1 accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

Extras include commentary with Oliver Stone, deleted scenes, an alternate ending, an interview of Oliver Stone by Charlie Rose, and theatrical trailer. The coffee book will be composed of 42-pages featuring rare photos and press materials as well as an essay of the film by director Oliver Stone.

Update: Natural Born Killers is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com

Pass for me with the "coffee book". Didn't WB make this sort of mistake before, packaging their movies with something the masses did not want? Hmmm...HD-DVD combo's ring a bell?

The coffee book editions are the WORST. Are we buying a book or a movie? BIG pass on this!

Just do what I did with the Harry Potter boxset... print out the cover art and put them in a blank BD case. Looks exactly the same.

I posted a comment to bill asking him to tell warner to at least give us a regular jewel case
release along side the coffee book. Hopefully his contacts can make warner change

I can deal with the coffee book. Now when it comes to the cut of the film it BETTER be the Director's Cut or no sale.

Nice! Coffee book or not, I'm getting this!

The book is still better than their cardboard cases that they used for a long time for DVDs. And since I actually like books this could be great. But if I have a choice between the two, I would probably get the standard case...

I love the coffee table book editions, they're just so much cooler, and this movie is freakin' incredible. Great Great News!

Everybody needs to keep in mind that Warner does *not* have the rights to the Director's Cut of Natural Born Killers. That would be Lionsgate in this case. Warner cannot release what they do not have the rights to.

"I can deal with the coffee book. Now when it comes to the cut of the film it BETTER be the Director's Cut or no sale. "

I agree. The coffee table edition is quite nice, but it has to be the better unrated director's cut, or i'll be leaving it on the shelf.

I can't fathom denying yourself a movie that you enjoy based solely on the packaging. So bizarre.

You know you CAN buy your own blu-ray cases if you want. $6.50 for a pack of 10. http://www.sleevetown.com/blu-ray-hd-dvd-case.shtml

Keep the special editions coming, Warner. The vast majority of us appreciate the extra effort.
