Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced they will release 'Heroes: Season One' and 'Heroes: Season Two' for Blu-ray on August 26th. The first season was released on DVD and HD DVD last August, and the second season will be released on Blu-ray day-and-date with the DVD release. No specs or extras have been announced at this time.
The 'Heroes: Season Two' release will be the first global release on Blu-ray for Universal, indicating that it will be available in all territories on August 26th. This also places the previous seasons in the hands of fans a few days before the proposed start of the third season of the popular television series.
No word on whether 'Heroes: Season One' will be a port of the previous HD DVD release, or if it will be optimized for Blu-ray. We'll post more details on all the upcoming Universal titles when they come available.
Not sure it would be a purchase for me. I really like the show but don't think I'd watch it multiple times. Even so I hope they fully optimize it for Blu.
I"m not a Hero fan but I thank you Universal for the added movies. Now bring on Fast an The Ferious 1,2,an 3 then we will call it even. (P.S.) DTS-HD(HR) please!!!!!
With these announcements from Universal today, I can't imagine Paramount will wait much longer to at least hint of their plans. I like the way Universal is doing this, at least they're giving us something...
I think Universal is really ticked off about HD DVD and taking it out on Blu-ray. Great news for us. Talk about jumping in with both feet. They jumped in with both feet and the kitchen sink. Way to go Universal..... Ummmmm.....Paramount????
YAY! I hope they come together in one deluxe set. Maybe with some PrimaTech Paper products, or a helix necklace. Um, Paramount. HI! How about CSI on
Blu-Ray?
Ore-ordering both as soon as possible. Paramount/dreamworks can't wait much longer. I say
next week at the latest. Great job Universal!!! I will be buying every title they announced today
except maybe one or two. Good start!!!!
Amazon.com are currently selling series 1 on FVF dor $19.99, I was so tempted at that price, but said No, I just knew it would come to Blu-Ray sooner or later, glad I resited now.
FINALLY an official announcement!
And I am not surprised Paramount is still MIA.
Great to see the list they have, but it will be SO MUCH BETTER to get their biggest and best titles...
you know what I mean.
Hell Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!!!!! Deffinate buys. Almost broke down and bought season 1 on red.
I have been soooooo patient. Wow me with quality and features Universal. Thank you soooooo
much. Paramount??? Where are you? Well as long as I get my Iron Man day and date with the
DVD I am cool.
Only 1 think would keep me from buying these, if they com out in those STUPID card board fold out case like thsy did for HD-DUD. Please do not be that dumb Universal!
It would be great to see Battlestar Galactica on Blu-ray as long they re-encode it. I heard that the video quality on
the HD DVD edition was rather disappointing. The same goes for Heroes.
Great News, been a heroes fan series. The PQ in TV is aleady good, can't wait to see true 1080p HD. Hope they had same or more extra from the HD DVD version. I probably just gonna own season 1 cause season 2 ain't that great,.
It looks like Universal is looking to make a serious effort with their BD releases. These titles I won't be snapping up, but it shows good faith in the format. A certain other studio that has some serious bridge building to do should take note!!!
wow that's great news from universal now lets see a king kong release because i know it will look amazing im definitely getting both of season 1 & 2 keep it comin' universal
Exactly what I've been waiting for. Now all Universal need to do is announce Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead and they'll have one happy customer.
But where are you Paramount? You need to hurry up and bring all the millions of "when is Transformers coming to Blu-ray" forum posts that are on here to an end... one of which I'll admit started I know... guilty as charged
Heroes is an awesome show for Blu-Ray, but my greatest fear is Universal's price tag. I'm afraid the two seasons will probably be a bit too expensive for my wallet. I'm still a little leary of buying TV shows on HD, since I usually purchase them to have them portable. I like being able to let my friends borrow them and watch them on portable players. Maybe in the near blu future.
I personally wish that Universal would release it's sitcom "The Office." The show was shot even from the beginning entirely in HD, and would not require so many discs. The first three seasons on DVD have been some of the best selling TV series' of all time.
Man... I knew it was going to happen sooner or later.... I bought Heroes on HDDVD... I should have waited.. it looks amazing already. I guess I just have to pick up season 2 on blu-ray and hold on to season 1 on HDDVD
