The World's End Blu-ray

Posted September 26, 2013 02:22 PM by Webmaster

Universal 100thUniversal Studios Home Entertainment has officially announced the Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet combo pack release of director Edgar Wright's The World's End, starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan, Rosamund Pike, David Bradley and Pierce Brosnan. The approaching-apocalypse sci-fi comedy arrives on Blu-ray on November 19th.

Synopsis: Twenty years after their first epic pub crawl attempt, the "five musketeers" -- Gary King (Pegg), Peter Page (Marsan), Oliver "O-Man" Chamberlain (Freeman), Steven Prince (Considine) and Andy Knightley (Frost) -- reunite in their home town to complete the ultimate challenge: one night, five friends, twelve bars, a boozy quest on which only the strongest will survive. But after a bizarre series of encounters with the out-of-this-world locals, they soon realize that reaching their final pub, The World's End, may be the least of their troubles. They're having the time of their lives, ready to take on the world… but tonight they may have to save it.

Didn't catch it in theaters, but it will gladly be placed next to Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz in my collection.

Indeed, Graham. Me too! And -jonny-, please explain why you thought it was rubbish. I thought it (and "This is the End") were the two funniest movies of the year.

Only THREE commentaries this time? You're going a bit light, Edgar Wright.

Uninspired and unfunny, just like This is the End. The funniest film of the year, so far, is The Kings of Summer.

Favorite movie of the year with Iron Man 3,Man of Steel(despite their faults),Warm Bodies distant 2nd,3rd,& 4ths. Definitely the weirdest/wackiest of the Cornetto Trilogy, and didn't join its brethren Hot Fuzz & Shaun of the Dead in my Favorite 4 Movies of All Time(other 2 are Terminator 2 & Dawn of the Dead),but was still a welcome change of loveable goofiness. Day 1. Wish there was another Wright/Tarantino Commentary tho. Otherwise,as usual,a great looking features package for a fantastic movie(that joins Iron Man 3,Dark Knight Rises,& Man of Steel in being decisive even among its target audience/prior fanbase).
