Black Sabbath Online has detailed the Universal Republic Blu-ray release of Black Sabbath: Live... Gathered in their Masses, which is set to arrive later this fall in three separate editions, among them a Deluxe Box collector's set that features exclusive live tracks, bonus content, poster, guitar picks and more. All three versions of the band's live performance are being released on November 26th.
Gathered in their Masses showcases the two-night April 29th/May 1st performance in which Black Sabbath -- Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar) and Geezer Butler (bass) -- kicked off the band's "13" world tour in Melbourne, Australia. It was the first time the band had been back Down Under since 1974, and the resulting live recording saw the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame inductees at their best, playing tracks from the million selling "13" album, as well as classic hits from their back catalogue.
The three Gathered in their Masses Blu-ray edition releases break down as follows:
Too bad you have to buy the Deluxe Edition to get the bonus tracks on the Blu-ray, this is a bit of a con.
I don't want all that paper rubbish, poster, ticket, set list etc, and what is the point of the standard def DVDs when I only want the Blu-ray.
Also, the CD is not even the full concert, so pointless.
I've made up my mind..... the standalone Blu-ray it is.
Sounds great! I'd get the Blu-ray/CD combo but what's up with the pricey retail price?? BD/CD concert combos usually go for around $20-$24 and this one is at $49?? Even if it goes down by $15 on release day, still way too expensive for me to buy...
I will pickup this up but I'm undecided on the format...The bonus tracks on the deluxe edition are awesome! However, how much am I gonna have to pay to get this? Time will tell...and yes, Bill Ward is really missed in this band right now, wish this band wasnt run by a bunch of sharks...see ya 11/26, wow, right on my birthday too, sick!
Saw them on August 26th. Spent big bucks for the meet & greet package. Was worth any penny and the put on a great show. I was a little hesitant but decided to pre-order the deluxe version. I guess if I want all the extra tracks I would have to pony up. I didn't do the same for the CD so I will splurge on the concert Blu-ray.
I always skip the 'Deluxe' boxes, but I'm not sure what I'll do here. I skipped the Super Deluxe edition of "13" (bought the Best Buy double CD and the vinyl separate), but at the same time I purchased the VHS+CD Double Pack of "Cross Purposes Live" back in the 90s and that was probably close to $40. I guess it depends on whether or not those bonus live songs are in HD or SD..?
Owning the latest CD (reluctantly) is as far as I will go. With the exclusion of Bill Ward this is not Black Sabbath, so I will refuse any further support. Sharon, shame on you for the long history you've had for screwing contributing artist's out of their legitimate credits/royalties for writing Ozzy songs. A recent "That Metal Show" episode mentions one such example for a major Ozzy hit single.
Three original members is better than nothing I guess.
Shame no Bill Ward, but the fact is he is just not up to the job anymore, physically, he just can not keep up with the other guys anymore, plus his health problems and the worry of another heart attack, that's why they had to get a replacement drummer.
