Samsung has announced that they will release their upcoming Blu-ray player, the Samsung BD-P1500, this June. The player, which will be a BonusView (Profile v1.1) player with a future upgrade to BD-Live (Profile v2.0), is the fourth generation Blu-ray player from the longtime Blu-ray supporter. It will be able to output 1080p24 video and decode Dolby TrueHD audio (with DTS-HD HR support to be added at a later date).
The inclusion of an Ethernet and USB port will allow the player to easily be upgraded to a BD-Live player. Price has yet to be announced for the player, but previous material has suggested an MSRP of $399.

According to the specs, it will support both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA.

Let's hope they listened to everybody and keep up with their firmware updates. |

If this player is as good as Panasonic's, that is, actually play discs correctly, I may get it to match up with my new Samsung LCD. |

Sweet. I know people have been hating on Samsung but I for one love the company and their electronics. And I'm very glad to hear that its upgradeable to Profile 2.0 (BD-Live). This definitely makes me reconsider the Panny BD-50.
From a beauty standpoint I like the way this Bluray player looks...lol.
Hopefully it recieves awesome reviews. Most important to me however is the remote, loading times, and ability to jump straight to the main menu. |

Too little, too late for Samsung. Their half-assed approach will keep me in the Sony/Pioneer/Panasonic camp for Blu-ray. |

At $399, I'd still say just get a PS3. I have a BD-P1400, and the load times are pretty slow just to get to the menu screen a lot of times, but my PS3 loads pretty much every movie lightning-fast. Hopefully the BD-P1500 will have a lot better load times. |

I dont know why they dont just hold off so that BD-Live is ready right out of the box. |

Sounds intriguing!
I'll still wait for the reviews -- let Samsung prove themselves on the quality front. I won't buy this sight unseen. But at that SRP, it is quite intriguing, yes. |

Wow... it looks gorgeous! It's a high class design indeed.
I hope the quality matches with its appearance. |

I've had enough of Samsung with the BDP 1200!
I would never trust them to support the new player any better than they did the 1200.
It's going to be the Panny 50 or Sony 550 for me! |

With their track record on firmware updates, I wouldn't expect BD-Live support anytime soon. FYI, I owned a Samsung 1200 so I am allowed to insult them. |

Why does everything have to be available at a later date? Why can't it all be available when the product comes out? Is it such a hard concept to grasp for these manufacturers? |

At this point in the game, companies need to get their players out in final spec. |

RickD, moviefan, and HeavyHitter said it all. The only thing I'll add is "A Samsung player = Heartache". |

DTS-HD HR at a later date? As in a firmware update? The 1400 had it onboard... |

The SAMSUNG store in NYC has some pre-production units and the salesman said the disc load times are around 10-15 seconds. He did not have a definite release date or MSRP. |
