Disney and Marvel Studios have issued the first trailer for directors Anthony and Joe Russo's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Redford, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández. The sequel is set to open in U.S. theaters on April 4, 2014.
Official Synopsis: After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America (Evans), living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow (Johansson), Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon (Mackie). However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy: the Winter Soldier.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is helmed by directing team Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios' President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky.
The Russo Bro's have directed most of my favorite episodes of Community, I had faith that they would make a solid film, and from this trailer it looks like they have. I wasn't a huge fan of Johnston's Captain America but this looks like it will rekindle my interest in Captain America.
Looks great! I LOVED the first film! It worked well as a period piece set in the 1940s, and was refreshing compared to all the other super-hero movies taking place in present day. There were rumors he wouldn't be wearing his mask in this one; he appears to have it on a few times. I sure hope so because Captain America without his mask just isn't the same. Looking forward to it!
ditcin - I think the main difference between this and a GI Joe movie is that people are actually genuinely interested in seeing this one where the Joe movies are basically something you might go to if have a couple free hours and you've seen everything else that's playing in that theater at the time.
I think everyone who hates on this trailer needs to calm down the f down. Everyone whining about the Russo brothers being television sit com directors just need to take their medicine and deal with it.
