The Shadow Blu-ray

Posted December 5, 2013 05:18 PM by Webmaster

Shout FactoryIndependent distirbutors Shout Factory have detailed their upcoming Collector's Edition Blu-ray release of director Russell Mulcahy's The Shadow (1994), starring Alec Baldwin, John Lone, Penelope Ann Miller, Ian McKellen, Peter Boyle, and Andre Gregory. The release will be available for purchase on February 25th.

Alec Baldwin stars as Lamont Cranston, alias The Shadow, in this big screen adaptation of the popular 1930s radio series. Once a gangster himself, Cranston now uses his special powers of invisibility for the collective good, waging a war against his arch-foe, the criminal mastermind Shiwan Khan (Lone). Kahn has kidnapped the scientist father of the beautiful Margo Lane (Miller), built an atom bomb, and threatened to destroy New York City unless a large ransom is paid. Can Cranston locate Kahn's secret headquarters and defuse the bomb or is it bye-bye to the Big Apple?

Special Features:
  • New interviews with Director Russell Mulcahy, Alec Baldwin, Penelope Ann Miller, Production Designer Joseph Nemec, III., Director Of Photography Stephen H. Burum and Writer David Koepp
  • Theatrical Trailer

Well, it's not a Baldwin commentary. But I'll take an interview or two as long as they're candid about the film's production and reception

I was hoping for a commentary. If it's the same transfer as the previous blu release, I probably won't bother upgrading.

If this doesn't feature a new HD transfer but is just the same one Universal used for their Blu then I will definitely pass as Uni's BD looked AWFUL and no amount of bonus features would make me buy that again. Come on Shout, let us know if this is a new transfer or not.

I hope those interviews are at least 15-20 mins each. If so I will buy it

Almost bought the Uni (tried a couple times, didn't make it past my damage threshold), but with the remastered video will give it another shot (if my wallet can stand the damage).

Considering this is where we come to for blu-ray news, why would we be expected to check the forums for information?
