Universal Studios Home Entertainment has revealed the specs for the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'The Mummy', due to hit store shelves on July 22nd, a few weeks after the DVD re-release. The film, which has been digitally remastered, will be presented on a BD-50 with 2.35:1 1080p video and a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.
Extras include audio commentaries with the cast and crew, four featurettes ("Visual and Special Effects Formation", "An Army to Rule the World", "Building a Better Mummy", and "Unraveling the Legacy of the Mummy"), deleted scenes, and a storyboard comparison. Exclusive to the Blu-ray release will be Universal's "U-Control" in-movie experience and a picture-in-picture behind-the-scenes look into the making of 'The Mummy'.
Also included will be a sneak peak at the upcoming 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' and movie ticket offer.

Not a huge fan of the movie, but I may have to re-watch since they are using a BD-50 and DTS-MA. Good call Universal, good call! |

Codec no bar, Universal seems to be on a roll by offering the intelligent and cool looking U-CONTROL feature and DTS-HD MA. Looks like they have learned the authoring tools quickly unlike Warner. I think Mummy will be transferred to Blu-ray from the newly created DI. Bravo UNIVERSAL. |

I should be getting a review copy of this release the first week of July. Upon receiving this, I will do a good comparison between this and the HD-DVD version. |

Can't wait to pick this baby up. One of my favourite films. Also, paves the way for Gladiator & Jurassic Park with DTS-HD MA. Drool... |

It's pretty evident that Universal has created a new DI for the special edition release. So it should look better than the crappy and disappointing HD DVD release. |

Very sweet. If they include a movie ticket with Mummy Returns as well I'd buy both. I told my old
man I'd take him to number 3 cause he loved the other two. We'll just walk up in different lines like
we're not together so we could each use the free tickets from the discs. Done it before |

Some good news. Ill be looking forward to this and the mummy returns. The scorpion king was
absolute crap. Wonder how the new will shape up considering the amount of time thats passed since
the second. |
