Scream Factrory Details Darkman, Night of the Demons, and Witchboard

Posted January 3, 2014 04:51 PM by Webmaster

Shout FactoryScream Factory, the horror-thriller offshoot of independent film distributor Shout Factory, has detailed its upcoming Blu-ray releases of Sam Raimi's Darkman (1990), and Kevin Tenney's Witchboard (1986) and Night of the Demons (1988). The three releases will be available for purchase in February.

Darkman

Doctor Peyton Westlake's (Liam Neeson) attempts to clone body parts via computer are disturbed when his laboratory is torched by a gang of thugs, with Westlake left for dead. Horribly disfigured, he uses his equipment to survive, reinventing himself as Darkman. Obssessed with revenging himself on sadistic gang leader Robert G. Durant (Larry Drake), Darkman is torn by his love for former girlfriend Julie (Frances McDormand), and struggles to reconcile the two, warring sides of his personality.

Witchboard

It's called a Ouija Board, and it's been used for thousands of years to communicate with the souls of the afterworld. For beautiful Linda Brewster (infamous 80s vixen Tawny Kitaen), it brings the playful ghost of a dead ten-year-old boy. But when the friendly spirit develops a sudden taste for violent murder and demonic possession, Linda's skeptical boyfriend (Todd Allen) and her former lover (Stephen Nichols of General Hospital and Days Of Our Lives) must race to destroy this ferocious portal of the damned. This is no game; this is Witchboard!

It's Halloween night and Angela is throwing a party, but this is no ordinary spook bash. Everybody's headed to Hull House, a deserted funeral home with a shocking secret in its past and something evil alive in its basement. Now the guests are becoming possessed, and this party's treats include tongue-ripping, eyeball gouging, gratuitous nudity, bloody dismemberment and more. Welcome to the blowout where all Hell is breaking loose: You're invited to Night Of The Demons.

Looking forward to the Darkman Collector's Edition!! Glad I held off on buying the original bare bones release. Thank you very much, Scream (Shout!) Factory, on giving this cult classic the special edition treatment it deserves!!

Can't wait for Darkman. I saw it got delayed a few months, presumably for all these great extras. Also, the reversible covers are a great touch.

Considering Raimi originally wanted Darkman to be The Shadow, how about a double feature when the Alec Baldwin movie comes out?

(And yeesh...Hope we get the cool original reversible movie-poster cover with Darkman.)

My grandmother took me to the theatre to see Darkman when it came out. I was in elementary school. I might need to pick this up for nostalgia.

So Shout got Liam Neeson of all people to do an interview regarding Darkman, but not Sam Raimi? Why is that director so guarded these days?

Only interested in the classic: Darkman. Or, at least I was... until I saw that abominable cover "art"; about as appealing as projectile diarrhea. Nice going you cheapskate assholes. So I have to print the original poster art and affix it to the case myself?!

Candystalker, I agree that art isn't so appealing , but I think they still have reversible covers with the original art on their "collectors editions".
Also hoping for good looking encodes on these. Not sure about double dipping o Darkman till I read reviews.

@CandyStalker

To reiterate what billyearle said, Scream Factory collector's editions always have reversible cover art that uses original key art.

If you click on Darkman and then the slipback cover you can see what I think is great cover art.
