DVDPlay Adds Blu-ray to Grocery Stores

Posted May 28, 2008 09:33 AM by Josh Dreuth

Blu-ray Movies DVDPlay has announced that they will add Blu-ray titles to their popular kiosk style DVD rental machines that are present at many grocery stores this June. They will offer these titles at the same $1.49 rental fee as their DVD selections. The first Blu-ray titles available via the kiosks will be 'Untraceable' and 'Men In Black', both of which should be available around June 10th.

Chuck Berger, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of DVDPlay commented, "DVDPlay is thrilled to be the first in the kiosk space to offer Blu-ray discs. The focus of this strategic decision is to prepare for the long term success and sustainability of the kiosk and ultimately give consumers what they want. We have an extremely adaptable product. Recognizing the mainstream adoption of Blu-ray and offering it to our customers is something we were able to turnaround quickly."

No immediate word on how many Blu-ray titles would be made available at the kiosks.

Great news! $1.49 is a great deal for a 24 hour rental of a HD movie, as long as you watch it and return it in 24 hours...

That is F***ING AWESOME! I was even saying to myself this last weekend that it would be cool to
see Blu-ray discs in those kiosks but it would probably not happen until 2011. This is sweeeet!

Now -THAT- is bringing Blu Ray to the masses.
Going to Fry's Market food and picking up a Blu Ray rental on the way out is where it's at

This will be great in getting more people aware of Blu-ray and then hopefully push adoption further

Why do they have a copy of Kill Bill(Blu-ray) in the bin? That title hasn't even been given a street date, let alone out yet.
