Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring Tim Burton's claymation classic 'Nightmare Before Christmas' to Blu-ray on August 26th in a collector's edition form. No technical specs have been announced at this time, but you can expect the similar 1080p AVC and PCM treatment that Disney gives the majority of their titles.
Extras for this release include:
- Audio commentary with Tim Burton, director Henry Selick and composer Danny Elfman
- An original Tim Burton poem, narrated by Christopher Lee
- A tour of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion ride
- Behind-the-scenes look at the filming of Nightmare Before Christmas
- Tim Burton's short film "Vincent"
Both the Blu-ray and DVD release will also receive a digital copy of the film, which Disney is calling "DisneyFile". Exclusive to the Blu-ray release will be a introduction from Tim Burton.

Regardless of the technical specs not being released yet, I will still pick this one up regardless of what they'll be. |

Can't wait!!!!!! I am loving the digital copies. It would be great if the other studios would start doing the same, and it became a common practice. |

Oh, wow. This is one of my all-time top wishlist titles. Absolutely perfect film. This one (shockingly) never even got so much as an anamorphic transfer on stardard DVD, either, so the PQ and SQ on this should be an absolutely stunning upgrade in every way. I wonder if Disney will reframe this at 1.78:1 or windowbox it at 1.66:1. |

I hope it comes with lossless audio, Disney should take care of us there. But even if they don't, I'll still buy this one, can't wait! |

"claymation classic"?
Who did the write-up on this? They are stop-motion puppets not claymation.
Anyway, this is awesome news! |

If it's Disney, it's either going to have PCM or TrueHD lossless sound - and that's fine by me |

Croweyes: The US did not get a Anamorphic transfer for the S.E. In europe we got a anamorphic transfer (beautiful), but no English DTS. :S But fortunately it is coming!!! |

I saw the trailer yesterday and it looked tremendous. Does anyone know if the trailers are just the old trailer presented in hi-def or are they remastered? I've always wondered about that. |

Wonder if they will present it in 3-d, like it was in the theatrical re-release. It'd be a shame to
release hannah montana, but not this one. |

that1guy: Doubtful. And good thing, too. The 3-D conversion was rather poor.
I hope this isn't the last of the features to be included... The last DVD release (and the laserdisc!) both had a LOT more features.
At least there's some new content included. |

Yo Josh! Lately Disney has been using TrueHD in lieu of PCM like on their earlier titles. That being said, I think AVC with lossless is a given. |
