Her Blu-ray

Posted March 21, 2014 02:50 AM by Webmaster

Warner 90th AnniversaryWarner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of writer/director Spike Jonze's award-winning Her, which stars Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Chris Pratt, Olivia Wilde and the voice of Scarlett Johansson. The romantic science fiction drama was nominated for five Academy Awards (including Best Picture) and won Best Original Screenplay. Her arrives on Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet combo pack on May 13th.

Synopsis: Set in Los Angeles, slightly in the future, the film follows Theodore Twombly (Phoenix), a complex, soulful man who makes his living writing touching, personal letters for other people. Heartbroken after the end of a long relationship, he becomes intrigued with a new, advanced operating system, which promises to be an intuitive entity in its own right, individual to each user. Upon initiating it, he is delighted to meet "Samantha" (voiced by Johansson), a bright, female OS who is insightful, sensitive and surprisingly funny. As her needs and desires grow in tandem with his own, their friendship deepens into an eventual love for each other. From the unique perspective of Oscar-nominated filmmaker Spike Jonze comes an original love story that explores the evolving nature -- and the risks -- of intimacy in the modern world.

Her is presented in 1080p with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround. Extras include:
  • The Untitled Rick Howard Project
  • How do you Share Your Life with Somebody
  • Her: Love in The Modern Age

Shameful lack of extras for yet another best picture nominee.
Great movie but the extras suck so I will pass.

Looking forward to picking this up. The UK release ( according to Amazon ) isn't due until 23 June. Is this likely to be region free?

Not surprised about the minimal extras. Spike Jonze isn't a fan of those, nor does he go a great deal to talk about them.

Be thankful that they retained the theatrical poster art for the blu-ray cover, even though it makes it harder to sell to the common folk of what kind of film it is.

@chris_sc77 Seriously? I agree the extras are lackluster but I love the movie dearly so I will definitely be purchasing this Day 1.

I'm disappointed about the extras, too... but I think if the prices is right by release date, I'll keep my order at Amazon.ca

On another note, if I'm being honest... I almost never watch extras

I just can't comprehend people who won't buy a Blu-ray because it only has the movie on it. Do people really have so much time that they'll watch a movie, then watch it 2 or 3 more times to hear the commentary tracks, then watch the "making of" short and then all the interviews and various trailers? You'd have to be unemployed and devote entire day to watch each disc you buy.

For me the extras makes it easy to justify purchasing a movie at release date price, otherwise i can wait until it is $10-$12, unless it is a film i haven't seen yet on theaters.

IscariotJ - Warner releases are almost always region free so you should be safe to import.
