At a press event Monday, Bob Chapek, president of Walt Disney Studios, made it clear to audiences that every Disney branded Blu-ray release after the October 7th release of 'Sleeping Beauty' would include some form of BD-Live. As you probably already know, 'Sleeping Beauty' will include many BD-Live elements to showcase what Disney has been working on to make Blu-ray highly interactive.
That pledge does not include Blu-ray releases from their content partners (such as ABC, Touchtone, and Miramax), but some of those releases may include BD-Live elements as well.
Disney will also heavily promote the BD-Live features of these titles, encouraging consumers that they should not only adopt Blu-ray, but emerge themselves into the films deeper than ever before possible.
I am curious of BD-Live. No current titles with BD-Live interested me at all. Saw IV? Definitely not for me. I am counting on you, Disney, to provide my first BD-Live BD
Meh. I still don't even have a BD with PiP. I can't see BD-Live interesting me at all... UNLESS.. they release extra commentaries over time. Say, for example, the director wasn't available to record one because he/she was shooting another picture overseas.. I'd love to get the commentary online rather than having to pay for another version of the disc in 2 years time.
This is one of those things I would have never thought of or expected, but now that I know about it I'm really curious to see how it works out. If it's something fun or cool then more types of films should do it (not just kiddie flicks).
still don't know what BD live can bring
the only good idea would be to have all special features on BD live as many people aren't interested in special features at all
Yeah, maybe if all the special features were on BD-Live, it would free up space on the disc for more sound options and/or eliminate the need for a second disc. This might help drive the costs down a little. Enery little bit helps!
