Specs for Blu-ray Heroes Seasons Revealed

Posted June 10, 2008 06:28 PM by Josh Dreuth

Universal Studios Universal Studios Home Entertainment has revealed the specs for the upcoming Blu-ray releases of 'Heroes: Season One' and 'Heroes: Season Two', both due to hit store shelves on August 26th. The popular TV series will get the full high definition treatment, with video being presented in 1.78:1 1080p accompanied by a DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Season One has been reduced from seven discs for the HD DVD release to five. This is because some special features, such as "Genetics Test" and "Mind Reader" games, have been removed, but also due to Blu-ray's larger storage space. The special features are as follows:
    Disc 1
  • Artwork Presentation; Hero Connections
  • 73-Minute Premiere Episode with Audio Commentary by Show Creator Tim Kring
  • BD-Live Enabled
  • Making Of
  • Special Effects
  • The Stunts
  • Profile of Artist Tim Sale
  • The Score
  • Deleted Scenes

    Disc 2
  • Artwork Presentation, Hero Connections
  • Deleted Scenes

    Disc 3
  • Artwork Presentation, Hero Connection
  • PIP Cast Video Commentaries
  • Deleted Scenes

    Disc 4

  • PIP Cast Video Commentaries
  • Deleted Scenes

    Disc 5
  • Artwork Presentation, Hero Connection
  • PIP Cast Video Commentaries
  • Deleted Scenes

Season Two comes on four discs, mostly because of the writer's strike. Extras for that season include:
    Disc 1
  • Hero Connections - Bios, PIP Cast & Crew Commentaries
  • Heroes Season 2 "A New Beginning"
  • Takezo Kensei: Sword Saint
  • BD-Live Enabled
  • Hero Connections: Network
  • My Scenes
  • Deleted Scenes

    Disc 2
  • Hero Connections - Bios, PIP Cast & Crew Commentaries
  • Genetics of a Scene
  • Hero Connections - Network
  • The Drucker Files

  • Deleted Scenes

    Disc 3
  • Hero Connections - Bios, PIP Cast & Crew Commentaries
  • Tim Sale Gallery of Screen Art

  • Deleted Scenes

    Disc 4
  • Hero Connecions - Bios, PIP Cast & Crew Commentaries

Sweet. I really was not happy this was HD DVD (DD+). Now they will be mine, and in DTS-HD MA!!
Seems Universal has embraced Blu-ray and understands the potential.

Sweet! Owned Season 1 on HD, and it was great, but now it will be even better! And Season 2...I must buy them together...then they shall match on my shelf. That HD-DVD went up for sale almost a year ago... ;-)

This is HEROES, Septimus, not HOGAN'S HEROES. Colonel Klink in 1080p? I think not!

Good to see more shows treated with respect. For a while I thought LOST was the only one.

Go, Tim Kring!!! This will be a wonderful offering: Filmed in blazing HD in the first place, the Blu-ray treatment of Heroes will become the pacesetter to induce further creation of HD television programming over the next 18 months to the point where 90%+ of broadcast programming is in full 1080p HD. 24 will likely be the next series to undergo such studio HD production intended for Blu-ray treatment.

This is going to be great as Season 1 was one of the titles that was making me even consider HD-DVD. Of course though I held out and looks like it paid off!

Are they going to put it in a blu case or one of those stupid card board boxes like the HD release?

Themanroom.com says $80 for season 1 and I believe $50 for season 2

NoQuestion,

That's what's on Universal's website... but all the other Blu-ray titles have a 25% discount to them. So what I want to know is The Man Room correct in that that's the MSRP and Universal hasn't discounted the sets yet... or did they already apply a discount to the MSRP?

HECK YES! I've only seen season 1 on my computer and I've been waiting for the BD for season two. CAN'T WAIT! Awesome show

At first I thought, I wasn't going to like it. Boy was I wrong, I freakin' loved it. I downloaded episodes on my PS3 in HD, but I know this will look even better.

If you like super heroes, this is for you.
