Hulk Blu-ray to House 70 Minutes of Cut Footage

Posted June 11, 2008 10:57 AM by Josh Dreuth

Universal Studios During an interview with director Louis Leterrier, he mentioned that the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'The Incredible Hulk', which is set to be released this Friday, will contain 70 minutes of cut footage. Apparently, during the editing process, some much-loved scenes got cut (including one which is in the trailer, but won't be in the final cut of the film), and the Blu-ray will showcase them all.

"There's some great stuff and there's some really horrible stuff, but you'll see it all," commented Leterrier. Regardless, Blu-ray fans will get to see a side of the film that (apparently) those who buy the DVD won't.

Those close to the situation have speculated a falling-out between Leterrier and the film's star Edward Norton over the cutting of certain scenes. Here's hoping that the Blu-ray also has some nice intros from them both on why they loved the scene and why it was eventually cut.

I liked the Ang Lee version but didn't love it. I'm hearing really good opinions on how this new version is one hell of a fun ride and is more what most people thought Hulk should have been which is action packed, Even from early naysayers who thought the FIRST previews looked weak.

Can't wait for this one!

Well first, is the movie any good? It isn't even out yet. Only then will a 70 minute longer version be exciting.
I'm not really a Hulk fan, but adding 70 minutes to a movie seems a bit extreme... might not turn out to be a good thing if it changes the pacing...

I would personally love it if they gave us Norton's version using seamless branching. I'd like to see how different it is.

And CptGreedle - I think the comment jsut means there will be 70 minutes of deleted scenes / extedned scenes. Not that they'll be added back into the movie.

That Blu-Ray is coming to market quick.

Talk about early updates for this movie. Hasn't even been released theatrically.

Sounds botched.

Going with the "we will throw back in everything that was worth cutting out to try to make it a better
movie" otherwise known as the Peter Jackson method.

bajor27, I'm hoping that they give us to OPTION (via seamless branching) to include the cut scenes in the movie or not. Options are always a GOOD thing.

These scenes could be added in the extras section. I can't imagine that they would make the actual movie 70 minutes longer, thats a bit extreme.

When I just looked at Leterrier's "resume" on IMDB, I saw his lack of experience making big blockbuster movies. Sure, he's got the Transporter films there, but with only having directed 3 movies before this big blockbuster has me thinking...

It's for this reason that I immediately thought that Norton and Leterrier wouldn't get along. Norton is an accomplished, dedicated, skilled actor and Leterrier has very little experience directing those kinds of actors. It's no wonder I came back here to read that they didn't get along.

Who cares about the additional features...all I want is 7.1. I hope it its 7.1 and if it's not 7.1 I definately won't buy it! (BTW...sarcasm).

In all reality, I am looking forward to this film. It will be good to see how Universal has bettered the franchise from the first one.

MacDaddyOJack, again, it should be an option (via seamless branching) to either include them in the movie or watch them from the "special features" portion of the menu.

When Peter Jackson made the extended edition of LotR, he said that there was a LOT more footage he
wanted to add back, but had to restrict it so it would still have the right pacing and such. But each
movie only had maybe 20-30 minutes put back, 70 minutes it like another movie!
I think this might be a bit much, but without even seeing the movie yet, there is no way to judge.
Only time will tell if this is a smart idea or not.

Was it wise of Leterrier to release this news even before the actual film hit theatres? I wonder if he might lose a few viewers because of this. Some viewers might wait for the Blu-Ray so that they get more bang for their buck.

Still great news, though!
