German label Koch Media has officially announced and detailed its upcoming Blu-ray release of director Jack Arnold's Tarantula (1955), starring John Agar, Mara Corday, Leo G. Carroll, Raymond Bailey, and Nestor Paiva. The release will be available for purchase in Germany on June 12th.
Synopsis: Classic 1950s sci-fi. Philanthropic Dr Reemer (Leo G. Carroll) has developed a new radioactive serum that can make animals grow at an enormous rate, and he plans to use it to help solve the world's food shortage. But when an accident in the lab leads to the serum infecting a tarantula, the situation suddenly becomes much more serious. Escaping into the desert, the deadly giant tarantula starts hunting human prey, and it's up to square-jawed doctor Matt Hastings (John Agar) and Reemer's assistant Stephanie (Mara Corday) to track it down and destroy it.

They also have "The Mole People" on Blu-ray in Germany! Damn you Universal, why do foreign countries get American made films BEFORE we do. Would love to see them re-release their Classic Sci-fi Ultimate Collections 1 and 2 on Blu-ray ! I am also waiting on a Blu-ray release of their entire "Legacy Collections" of their Universal classic horror films.
First day for me!! I would LOVE to see Warner release THEM! on blu ray (and finally in its 1.66 widescreen format). I am thinking this film was released just as films were transitioning to widescreen (although it works fine full frame).
i bought the german " the Mole people" and "the Monolith Monsters",both are region B and have a wonderfull transfer!
Will surely buy "Tarantula" asap it is released, plz remember that each of these is limited to only 1000 copies!
The above 2 titles come in a AR of 2:00:1 and while i had these in standard academy ratio, they were actually also in the wider format but only shown at the time at selected theatres!
